When does your vet check blood glucose?

We have a diabetic 10 year old tuxedo cat. Our old vet used to check her glucose sometime during the day, but still had us give her insulin at our normal times. So the check could be done anywhere from one to several hours after the injection. We moved last October, and the new vet tells us...

    Kitty Compulsion

Well, I tried the drinking fountain idea. A Drinkwell. It's a bust - she won't touch it. Still fusses for water from the faucet. Guess I'll have to live with it.

    Kitty Compulsion

In the last couple of weeks, our 10 year old tabby, Katie, has gotten absolutely compulsive about drinking water from the bathroom faucet. (Actually, she just gets her paw wet and then licks her paw). She's done it occasionally before, but now it's all the time and she gets very vocally...

    Extremely stressed out cat

I've thought about that. As far as Monday goes, I went to an Urgent care facility to treat an injury to my left hand...maybe I picked up a scent there. Another thing I thought about was the fact that our house is on the market. We've only had three showings in two months, but both our...

    Extremely stressed out cat

Actually, the problem seems to be getting worse. Yesterday morning she was fine. I went away for about four hours. When I came back, she was a different cat. Tail down, eyes dilated, growling, hissing, the works. I tried to ignore her, then she'd come right up next to me and sit down, but...

    Extremely stressed out cat

She was declawed over nine years ago. As far as associating the carrier with good things, that's an idea, but the mere sight of it sends her running. Remember, she's 10 years old. She gets a treat of fancy feast in the evening (dry feline r/d is her normal food). I'll try putting that in the...

    Extremely stressed out cat

Actually I have some to use for a trip next weekend, but I didn't want to use them for this.

    Extremely stressed out cat

Katie is a 10 year old tabby. We got her as a kitten along with her sister Maggie. They're both confirmed house-cats. They've never liked going to the vet (or going anywhere for that matter), but other than a little chase-around-the-house it has usually not be that great of a problem. Last...

    Splashing Her Water

Victory! Got one of those stainless steel bowls with the bottom wider than the top and rubber trim around the bottom. She still likes to dunk her nuggets and fish them out, but what little splashing goes with that is confined to the cookie sheet I put their bowls on.

    Splashing Her Water

We're using a fairly heavy ceramic bowl with a flat bottom. I was thinking of velcro to secure it to the baking pan in which their bowls now sit.

    Splashing Her Water

We have two 10 year old females. One (Maggie - aka Brattybutt) likes to play with her water in the water bowl. Up until recently it was just dropping her food nuggets into the water and fishing them out, but now she's knocking the water bowl around and spilling water all over the kitchen...
