Food suggestions for cat with urinary and constipation issues?

Thanks, these are great ideas. I can test and see if he can tolerate the low or no grain foods. Do i have to get pH test strips at the vet, or can I find them at a pet store? I'm not even sure what his pH should be.

Food suggestions for cat with urinary and constipation issues?

The weird thing is that he actually drinks a decent amount of water. I see him drinking at least a couple times a day.  I agree that canned food would be best, but I really think it would have to be one formulated for urinary issues. His bladder seems to be very sensitive. Does anyone know of a...

Food suggestions for cat with urinary and constipation issues?

Unfortunately he refuses to eat any canned food. I asked 2 different vets about supplementing with pumpkin and they both advised against it because of his urinary issues. Basically, if the pH is not right in his food his urinary problems will flare up. One time I decided I was going to mix our...

    Cat with brain damage

I don't know what to say, other than I'm so sorry this happened! I can't imagine how I would feel if this happened to mine.

Food suggestions for cat with urinary and constipation issues?

Hello! My neutered, male cat (about 9 years old) has the wonderful combination of both urinary and constipation issues. He is VERY prone to urinary irritation, UTIs and crystals in his urine so we have always had him on a prescription urinary diet.  When we adopted him at the shelter they let...

    Still fighting...one year later

I know my situation might not be unique, but maybe someone will read this and know exactly what to do. A little background: My husband and I live in a two bedroom apartment. We've had our female cat, Chloe, for about 3 years, and our male cat, Jack, for a little over a year. When we first got...

Will these cats ever tolerate each other?

Thanks so much for the reply. I think they actually do hurt each other when they fight. They have both had scratches on their noses and we saw dried blood under the bed where they usually fight. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment. I'm beginning to think you're right about letting them duke it out...

Will these cats ever tolerate each other?

About 4 months ago my husband and I adopted a 6 year old neutered male cat. We already have a 5-6 year old spayed female cat, which we've had for about 3 years. For the first month after we got the new cat we kept him in a separate room. To expose the cats to each other we would feed them on...

Cat won't go in litterbox if there's poop in it

The title almost sums it up... Our kitty is a spayed female, about 2 years old. We adopted her about 6 months ago, and I bet I can guess why someone put her out. She knows she's supposed to go in the litterbox, and she normally does, but if there's poop in it she'll just sniff at her box and...

My dad just tried to kill my cat...

Do you really think your dad was going to kill Mia? First of all, I really doubt your cat was going to kill the kitten. Fight with it, maybe, but not kill it. It will just take a while for Mia to accept that the kitten is part of the household now. Don't be offended when people call your cat...

    Cat peeing on the floor

I know questions like this have been asked probably a million times, so I apologize up front. We got our cat about 4 months ago and she was always really good about going in her litter box. Then about a month ago she got a bladder infection. She'd squat and leave little drops of pee on the...

    Juno, the movie

My problem with the movie is that it's just so ...unrealistic! First of all she tells her parents and they're just kind of like...oh ok. You don't see her go through any real emotional trauma like someone in that situation actually would. Yeah, she made the right choice but the whole thing is...

    Bra fittings??

Bra fittings are totally worth it! I was amazed after I found out what size I REALLY am. The downside? I wear a 34G which is near impossible to find. I pretty much have to go to high-end stores. The bras I get are $70, but totally worth it!!!

How long to leave alone on vacation

Personally, I think the biggest issue to leaving them alone is the litterbox! You can leave out plenty of food and water but, if your cat is like mine, if her box gets too dirty she'll start peeing on the floor! We had to leave ours alone for 4 days and learned the hard way.

    I need advice

I'm so sorry. I can't imagine how sad that is to witness. I almost wonder if the kittens had some kind of problem or deformity and that's why she was rejecting them. I think it's pretty common for animals to do that. Then again she could have just been a clueless new mom.

    Cats meow/possible 'spring fever'?

This may be kind of a stupid question, but is he neutered? If he isn't, he's probably smelling the "girls" in heat outside and wants to go out and play, if you get my drift.

Litterbox scooping + trash = STINK

My fiance and I have one cat and we scoop her box about 2-3 times a day. We try to keep it really clean because we've found that when there's something in her box she will just go on the floor instead of using it. The problem is that our trash STINKS ....BAD!! What do you guys do? Change the...

    Depressed cat??

I just wanted to update on this... So we've had her for a month now. She's started to be a little more playful, but that's not saying much. We took her to the vet and he said she's about 1-2 years old and very healthy. He couldn't tell if she had been spayed (couldn't find a scar), so we're...

    Where is your litterbox?

Ours is in the corner of the living room. Not exactly an ideal location but we have a pretty small apartment.
