Petsmart also sells them. I wait for them to go on sale and stock up. Some of the other pet stores sell a different brand called Nutri-vet...it's pretty good. I can't remember the price though.
Does anyone have any experience with urate stones? My 2 year old siamese - Nimitz- had a stone removed in july and it turned out to be a urate stone. Apparently he has to be on a reduced protein diet and we need to check his urine a few times a year. His liver function appears normal at the...

How many times in a 24 hour period should a healthy cat visit the litter box? How many pees and poops on average in a 24hr period? I'm sure there isn't one magic number but I'm still wondering if there is an acceptable range.
My cat just had a bladder stone removed and we are still waiting for the analysis of it to see what it is made of. I'm just trying to do some reading and preparing for any diet changes that may be coming.
For my cats. I've read a couple of posts were here where people talk about looking at calcium content when choosing water for their cats, especially male cats. I didn't realize it had calcium either nor that levels were important to look at. You learn something new every day.
Congratulations!
Thanks! We are so relieved that we have both of those issues under control. We were very worried for such a long time. i just feel bad that Nim went through this for so long.
Apologies for the length!!
One of my two Siamese kitties (aged 2.2 years) has been posing two big problems for their vet.
1. Loose and very stinky poo -on and off for a year and a half.
2. Blood in Urine -on and off for a year and a half(mostly on.)
1. Multipe stool samples and cultures...
Just wondering if cats put on a little weight over the winter and then trim up when the nice weather comes around. I'd assume they would but I'm not totally sure.
We get them in twice a year for check ups and whenever I get worried/paranoid about either of the two being out of sorts or having any symptoms. Our Vet is pretty good about consulting and answering questions on the phone as well.
We have a box that sits right outside of our front door where we deposit the litter bags after we've scooped. DH empties that once a day into the green recycling box in the garage....and once a week all the recycling is picked up by the city..........blue boxes, green boxes. I feel really bad...
I feed both wet & dry. One of my kittys prefers dry and will only have a little every evening. My other kitty loves her wet but will eat a little dry every day. Either way i try and feed the best quality possibly. I think a little balance is fine.
Nimitz's gas use to be so bad that my husband nicknamed him Chemical Ali. Luckily...once we got him on Cal Nat and he got alittle bit older it seems to have improved in a big way. He could also clear a room. So small...yet so toxic.
My Kitty had the same problem for months and months.....we tried everything Z/D included........it finally settled down this past January....we had him on the Z/D for about 3 months and then finally switched (very very gradually) to Cal Nat......and started to include a probiotic with his wet...
Our guys love the stove, so they go play in the basement while we're cooking. We had an incident once where our little girl Hermione singed her fur around her paws....thankfully no harm was done....scared the crap out of my husband.....and the smell of burned fur.........not good.
