    Raw for cats - thoughts?

I highly doubt he would eat a chicken wing or anything of the sort. It would thrill me to no end if he would, but I really think that's out of the question for him. Getting him to eat the ground up stuff is difficult enough. The nature's variety is only 5% fruits/veggies, 95% meat bone and...

    Raw for cats - thoughts?

I'd probably be feeding pre-prepared, can anyone comment on these brands? I like the nature's variety as it guarantees 95% meat/bone/organ content, the others don't offer such a breakdown. (that I can see) http://www.naturesvariety.com/conten...3DDEGUvY777DBD...

    Bad publicity for my vet

I dunno, I'm totally in the "better safe than sorry" camp. I know that if someone told me that my vet has abused an animal I'd tell them they were full of crap, without a moment's hesitation. I trust my vet 100%. BUT. If I had even a niggling doubt, I would be switching vets. I want to feel...

    Raw for cats - thoughts?

I had started to switch the cats to raw. Then Kiwi got oh-so sick, and it was basically because of feeding her raw, so I stopped for both cats. (I was feeding them nature's variety pre-packed raw) Basically she has inflammatory pancreatic/liver disease. This was most likely caused/made worse by...

Vet Sez: Ur Kittehz Got Allergyz

My cat gets really itchy if she eats anything with grains in it. Cats have no biological requirement for grain, and therefore shouldn't be made to eat it, IMO.

Can you think of a name for my new kitty? Pics!

She made me think of greek mythology, so.... I like "Ambrosia" it means "immortal" in greek. Or "Hera", she was the wife of Zues. Oh, and "Isis", which means "Queen of the throne"

Vet visit costs--what do you pay?

I've found that the dogs to be more expensive maintenance-wise, but Kiwi is quickly catching up to that. Milo has probably cost me maybe $1000 his whole life in vet bills so far (he's 5), Kiwi cost around $2700 in a matter of 4-5 days. health problems can crop up with any animal, cat, dog...

    Dental yesterday - lethargic today

I'd say just let her be for a bit, she'll come around. Milo just went in for a dental at the end of january, and he laid low for a few days too. She'll feel better soon.

Vet Sez: Ur Kittehz Got Allergyz

I would get them on a high quality grain-free diet (many cats have issues with grains). Some good brands are orijen, wellness, fromm's, EVO (make sure it says grain free!) I'd also change their litter. This is the stuff we use, has no dust, easy to clean and nothing in it that could be harmful...

I Need HELP for my Kitty!

Where are you located? Is there a university vet hospital near you? I would be taking her to a specialist diagnostic centre (Usually university vet hospitals do this) at this time. Sometimes our pets need care that goes beyond the realm of the general practitioning vet. Good thoughts for her.

    Big Question

You've gotten some great advice, so I won't reiterate it. I just wanted to add that I was/am highly allergic to cats. Living in a three story house with one I was OK, but then moved into a one bedroom apartment with two. I DIED for a good month, but after that built up an immunity to the...

Vet visit costs--what do you pay?

Before our recent "issues" my guys hadn't seen a vet in probably about 4 years either. I check them all the time for signs of illness and avoid vaccinations and treating them with harmful chemicals whenever possible. It just goes to show you that sometimes they get sick and need vet care, and...

    Juicy canned food recommendation needed

There's quite a bit of variety with the wellness, I'd just stick with what your doing. If you can't find a store that carries them all, maybe you could order some online?

    Hypoallergenic foods

It really depends on what he's allergic to. Even within food allergies there is an impressive range, wheat corn and soy are common grain allergies, but there can also be protein allergies (chicken, turkey, etc.) So in order to find an appropriate food, you really need to have some diagnostic...

Vet visit costs--what do you pay?

Wow you guys have cheap vet costs!! This is based on Kiwi's recent expenditures: Consultation: $60.00 X-rays, bloodwork, urinalysis, IV fluids with various additions, 2 days worth of supportive care: $696 One night stay in local emergency vet clinic with supportive care and monitoring: $377...

Kitties swallows it's own hair balls

Milo does that too! Drives me crazy, it's like, just cough it up already!! I've found that the paste works wonders. He won't eat it either, but I just smear it on his front leg and he licks it off. Here's a link to the stuff I use, but I'm sure any of the pastes would work just as well...

Cat is bleeding, what could have happened?

She needs to go to a vet, period. Veterinary care isn't a "nice luxury" for our cats, it's an absolute necessity.

    *Update (I hurt him)

I'll throw my vote in for the vet visit too. In October my seven month old lab started limping, and with me being uber-paranoid about joint disease I rushed him in and had x-rays taken and sent to a radiologist for analysis. They came back just fine and I can tell you it was a huge weight off...
