    Eating Her Kittens

Both she and kitten checked out fine, the kitten is not dehydrated and is gaining weight. He moves around a lot. She will be spayed when possible, I'm not going through this again with her and will be rehomed. She is in a bathroom where I have placed a doorless plastic dog crate lined with a...

    Eating Her Kittens

I've got 1 kitten left now, the other died but she did not eat him. Very confusing. The remaining kitten seems very strong, but who knows. Seems this litter was just not meant to be for whatever reason.

    Eating Her Kittens

But I'm not sure they were dying. They were all healthy and good sized at birth. They nursed well, she appeared to be taking care of them. The brown tabby died and she didn't eat her. She ate one of the white ones that had been doing well, so did she kill it? I don't know. The two she ate right...

    Eating Her Kittens

Her last litter is about 10 months old so it hadn't quite been a year since her last litter. She was in great physical condition at time of breeding. This is the 4th litter for her and was to be the last as I assumed I'd have a keeper kitten in it. Her first 2 litters were close together and she...

    Eating Her Kittens

I have an almost 4 year old Highland Lynx. She gave birth Sunday. Not her first litter, but was to be her last. She has been blocked by herself for the last 3 weeks in a bathroom away from the other cats and dogs. She had 5 kittens Sunday morning, 4 living and 1 that we only found the head and...

    After A C-section

Little Snow continues to do well. Her eyes opened this weekend and while I can't see anything abnormal I'll have the vet peek at her tomorrow. Almost to 7 ounces. She's got us wrapped around her paw already!

Thank you. I'm so happy we made it to the 1 week mark with one kitten.

    After A C-section

She'd said she wants to see what the eye looks like when it opens first and doesn't want to risk the eye opening early due to instilling medication. She' worried it will open prematurely if I keep messing with it.

    After A C-section

The vet said not to yet, the inner corner is a tiny bit open so I could potentially get some med in that way. But right now she just wanted me to do warm compreses and get the pus out and monitor for further pus. I have Tobramycin and Terramycin, but for now will hold off.

    After A C-section

The larger male died. We did multiple enemas and finally got some stool out. I don't know if he just got too weak or what happened. The white female is hanging in there. She still has closed eyes of course and Tuesday started having pus come out from one so we started her on Clavamox. Not sure...

    After A C-section

This was her. The 2 kittens are gaining slowly. Taking the larger male to be checked today as he hasn't pooped since Saturday.

    After A C-section

Kidney failure from the surgery, her bloodwork was awful. We euthanized her.

    After A C-section

She's crashed and we are at the emergency vet. She's in shock and unresponsive.

But then they'd be getting far more in a 24 hour period if I keep feeding 4cc and 5cc at a time to them. Those amounts per feedings seem to make them full, but not overly full that they are uncomfortable. They aren't awake and screaming when I get them every 3 hours, they are sleeping together...

    After A C-section

I did pick up raw goats milk this morning, defrosting it now. I am feeding every 3 hours. I will try the sponge trick as I don't think the white one nursed at all. She's still ignoring them.

Thanks, first time I've had to make this decision to do a c-section. Had not required one before.

    After A C-section

The tabby is 5 ounces, the white one is 4 ounces. I tube fed them 1cc per ounce. They did fine with that. I have injectable buprenorphine for Porsche, to be given once every 24 hours for pain control. She is super anxious and wants nothing to do with the babies right now. Usually she is an...

    After A C-section

She's 4 years old, it was to be her last litter anyway

    After A C-section

So my eldest Maine Coon had to have an emergency c-section and spay today. We saved 2 of the 4 kittens. One is larger and was born naturally and has nursed. The other had to be revived and is smaller. Mom is still woozy from the surgery and we gave her a small amount of buprenorphine as pain...

    Fading Kitten

Thank you. Luckily Athena is going to a great family who already have a kitten from me so I know she will be adored. Going to be harder than usual for me to part with her in 4 more weeks.
