Two weeks and two days since Jessie came to live with us and there is peace in our little kingdom. She's been out of her safe room full time for about five days now and they're going great! Woody is so high energy that he gets a little too rough sometimes but she just puts him in his place and...
It's been a week since their first very brief very hissy meeting and this morning I get to enjoy this! It's hard to tell from the angle but they're not more than a foot apart and both sound asleep. Feeling very hopeful that they will end up as friends. And how cute is Woody's fuzzy butt?!
Thanks! They still have a long way to go ... he got jealous when she played with his toys! ... but I see slow progress. Their first face to face meeting was less than two minutes and today they lasted six hours before I felt like they needed a break from each other.
I've been doing supervised visits and it's going well. They're nowhere near being friends yet but definitely starting to relax a bit. Woody isn't pestering Jessie quite so much and she's not as quick to hiss and swat at him ... though that still happens pretty regularly. This afternoon's...
Thanks for the advice! Every article I read is concerned with the established cat accepting the newcomer and my case is just the opposite. Woody, the established cat, is dying to be friends and Jessie wants nothing to do with him. Lol! She's getting restless in her safe room and trying to...
I've read all the articles about slow introductions and they make sense. I'm just struggling a bit with how to stick with it.
I've had Woody for about 3 months now and he's a sweetheart ... very friendly, affectionate and playful. VERY playful. He's 4 but he acts like a kitten. If I had a...
One thing my vet does that I love ... every reciept includes what shots are due and when. So all I have to do is look at the receipt from the last time I bought flea medicine and I know that her rabies vaccine is due Dec. 9, 2011.
She's been getting the three years rabies vaccine all along and...
Thanks for all the input, gang!
My main concern is the rabies vaccine as I live in rural PA and rabies is everywhere here. We had a bat in the house earlier this summer and by the time I found it, Chloe had knocked it out of the air and was stalking it across the bathroom floor.
Having a...
Thanks everyone ... I'm feeling much less like a bad mother!
I'm pretty sure rabies vaccinations are mandatory in my state. But unless she bites someone, I really don't think the police are going to show up on my door step and drag me off in handcuffs for skipping it.
I'd be more inclined to...
My cat's annual check-up/vaccination appointment is fast approaching and I'm seriously thinking about not taking her. Chloe's an indoor cat, six years old and other than being a little chubby (which we're working on) she's in excellent health. She's also the most anti-social cat on the planet...
Yeah, unfortunately, that's already a problem. The minute she sees me get the carrier down off the shelf she runs and hides. I have to get it out at least a week in advance so that she gets used to seeing it. And it's always a wrestling match to get her in the darn thing. And she HATES...
I took my cat to the vet today for her yearly check up. Yikes, what a disaster. She's always been very shy and fearful (nobody is allowed to touch her except me) so going to the vet has never been fun for her. But the vet's really calm, soft-spoken and patient and in the past she's tolerated...
