Hi-
I am going to be rescuing a family in the next couple of days- a tame mama and her 3 kittens (approx 5-6 wks) who I am afraid are not. I'll have to lure them in my apartment and then catch them to take them all to the vet to get checked out.
If there are any folks on the board in my area...
Honestly, I don't know if breed has a role in it. :-( Simba has a fur coat as if he was a Maine Coon (including LONG silky hair between his paw pads) but he is really a small cat- he is only about 4.5 kg. His lineage is a mystery to me as he was found wandering alone as a kitten.
I dont think that has anything to do with the injection. Honestly, when Simba had depro shots before it really didnt make any change in his behaviour. Now he's treated with pred tablets but he did get a couple of depro shots early on.
PS- As an aside, I would guess that the lip ulcer really...
This condition isn't necessarily allergy related. It might be, and it might not be. See, the scientists really do not know for sure. The bit about changing bowls really has no effect on this condition. Read the marvistavet.com link I posted a week or so back which should be on the top of page 2...
Hissy, I do not believe you are correct in mentioning that a flea biting a grooming cat causes the ulcer. My cat hasn't had a flea since I caught him wandering around as a stray when he was about 3-4 weeks old. He has been an indoor cat since then. In any case, fleas are not really a direct...
For those who don't know what it is, this is probably the best page I have found that describes rodent ulcer, or more specifically Eosinophilic Granuloma:

Note that the images are rather gruesome, they represent cases that probably did not...
Hissy is on target. My cat has rodent ulcer and the lesion looks just like your kitty. Of course, only the vet should make that decision, but this guy:

..takes a daily dose of prednisone to keep it in check. If I stop for a few days, the lesions start...
Inflammatory Bowel Disease

I had 2 sister cats (one still with me) who both suffered from regular vomiting. IBD is rather difficult to diagnose as it requires a scope of their gut and some tissue samples to be tested IIRC. My 2 cats were a bit old at the time a...
Not 'Rodent's Ulcer' which is why some of you had problems searhing for information. :-) I have a cat with rodent ulcer and he is treated regularly with prednisone.

If you have ruled out an object in the skin, look for information and ask your vet on 'rodent ulcer' (a/k/a Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex) which usually gives lesions on the side of the mouth but also can cause paws to bleed and sometimes deform with growths. It's rare, but my little one...
