Well, I've always disliked the idea of animals being buried, due to the easiness of them being disturbed.
So, both my cats got cremated.
It's personal preference, I guess.

Theyve never been apart, theyve slept and played in the same room since we got them.
But tonight (starting from now) and tomorrow night, the male has to be kept here, in our room, because of him getting "done" tomorrow, he needs starving and...

Im sorry for your loss, and to have this happening must be very distressing too.
I think the best advice I can offer is digging a deeper grave, or pouring something like vinegar or orange juice on top of the current one, because a lot of animals dont like the taste, I believe.
