Been using feliway and rescue remedy both. No change.

    It's official

He has been to three separate vets and two separate feline dermatologists. All of them are clueless. All I do is research, ask questions and try new things. Nothing has made a lick (no pun intended) of difference. He doesn't show any symptoms of hyperesthesia other than over grooming, all of the...

    It's official

He's so little though, he isn't even a year old. It just makes me so sad that he is like this, that the breeder we got him from isn't returning our calls/emails with regards to discussing the issue. Its so frustraing and tiring, and I can't stop crying.

    It's official

It started off as what the vet suspected as a summer allergy. Louie would over groom himself. So, he had a bunch of tests done and then on to anti-histamines/other allergy medication he went. That did nothing. We've changed food, bedding, litter; his licking got to the point where he was making...

At wits end with his scratching!

UPDATE: Took Louie back to the vet a few weeks ago, he has been on anti-histamines before the vet would give him prozac... Just to 100% rule out any possibility of him having an allergy. We are into week 3 of his medication, and there has been no change that I have seen at all... So, we press...

    Toilet traning kitty?

My cat used the toilet on his own the other evening with NO encouragement or training fro me what so ever... (I think he must have seen/smelled what I have been doing and put two/two together) Anyways, I have been reading articles online about how a good percentage of cat owners think that...

    Feline Immunotherapy

This is the only decent information I could find on the net... Edit: We are thinking after talking to many vets, that he is allergic to dust mites.... *sigh*

    Feline Immunotherapy

My vet has now suggested Feline Immunotherapy for my poor allergic baby. (Read about his health issues here) She didn't really give me more information as it was a telephone call, and she wants me to come in to see her for a proper consult, and so she can bill me most obviously. I'm wondering...

Why do my kittens lick my hands?

my kitty runs into the bathroom and licks the water off my legs when i've just gotten out of the shower... like hes trying to help bath mommy!

At wits end with his scratching!

Well, my intial thought was... If I bring a new kitten into the house, that he/she may pick up these OCD habits that Louie has as of now. Both vets agreed. (Holistic and practical) They said that as a LONG term solution, a friend would be the best idea so that he would have a buddy to comfort...

At wits end with his scratching!

I spoke to a holistic vet this afternoon, and basically he told me that the licking/scratching could be a habit he picked up when he was moved here (from Ontario to British Columbia) and it was something he was doing out of stress from being on a plane/away from his littermates etc. Apparently...

    Bitter Apple Spray for dogs

To be completely honest, same thing happened to me. I bought the dog formula... And it seems the cat LIKES to lick it! Or he gets used to it very quickly and it doesn't bother him anymore. I don't know whats up with that, but he couldn't STAND the cat formula.

At wits end with his scratching!

So far, as the days go on, hes only getting worse. He's started stepping in his mess in his litter box, or letting his bum hang out of the box and doing his job outside it. If he isn't sleeping or eating or being petted, he wants to scratch. Taking him back to the vet tomorrow, there HAS to be...

At wits end with his scratching!

So we started the flea treatment yesterday. Of course, he freaked out and didn't like it at all... He's also gotten way worse since this thread was originally posted. If the flea treatment doesnt work, I don't know if I am going to be able to keep him. The animal himself cost me a small...

He is a Bengal. We don't use anything on the carpet, except for the vacuum.

At wits end with his scratching!

He has been fed from a ceramic dish thats rinsed with hot water after each use. I clean out his water dish twice a day too.. I got ceramic because I thought it was the best for preventing a reaction.

At wits end with his scratching!

He's had more than one skin scrape done, he has had a few urine/stool tests. They've done one blood test on him as well, and everything came back perfectly normal. We've seriously been thinking about getting him a friend to keep him company and maybe help with these apparent stress levels/ocd...

Scratching at the bedroom door at night

Ugh. My Louie does this too. If I open the door to scold him, he runs away and just sits some where in the house and yowls for an hour or so.... Then comes back to scratch at the door. So, he gets put into the bathroom with his litter box while I try to sleep. And of course he just insists on...
