    Is green pea a filler?

Mia used to be on the Natural Balance Duck & Pea dried... the first ingredient is peas and a couple more ingredients down is pea protein. She had horrible dandruff while on it. I've since switched her to something else with real meat protein and her coat is so full and lucious, without dandruff...

    Transitioning to raw question

Thanks but that wasn't really what I was looking for. Perhaps my original post was too long.... I really just want to know how to know if my cat doesn't eat the raw food because she doesn't like a flavor and never will like a flavor vs. not eating because I transitioned too quickly. To me...

    Transitioning to raw question

So... I'm moving to a country in a few months where commercial pet food is expensive and poor quality. Mia currently eats NVI Chicken Raw Boost (she loves to pick out the raw bites mainly and seems luke warm on the kibble portion) and is obsessed with Hounds and Gatos chicken canned for her meal...

    Is this normal

My cats do something similar to that when pet right above the tail- stick their butt straight up in the air in a "ready" position.... I think it's a reflex. They were both spayed at 8 weeks.

    Avoiding peas in cat food?

Interesting. I had the opposite finding here...my girl took easily to the chicken flavor but gave me a crazy look when I served the lamb. Did the sniff/bury/cry thing until she gave in and tried it. Then she ate the entire portion. But still seemed to enjoy the chicken better overall.

What can I do to help my mourning cat?

I used to have two littermates, Marble and Mia. They would have been 7 this upcoming March. They weren't terribly close as they got older...they more or less did their own thing. On Dec. 6th, Marble passed away from mouth cancer. I tried to help her as much as I could but eating was getting...

    oral fibrosarcoma

It's just amazing that my two cats both break down at the same time. Bad genes I guess. This is a different vet than the nightmare vet with Mia. The first vet I mentioned that I took her to for an exam and was uncomfortable with using them for dental services was in the same practice as that...

Sneezing? Coughing? I can't tell whats wrong! - Video of whats happening -

It kinda looks like asthma...my girl Marble has asthma and her attacks are similar to the ones on the Fitz the brave link posted by a PP. But I'm concerned your cat doesn't really sound like he's sneezing but coughing the entire time? He does appear air hungry and has lots of mucus which is...

    oral fibrosarcoma

Hello, just wondering if anybody here has gone through this... just got a diagnosis today for Marble (litter-mate to Mia in a prior thread- when it rains, it pours). The vet was very surprised as she thought it looked just like an inflammatory response, esp. given her history of asthma and IBD...

My baby had surgery yesterday- support requested.

Mia is on Pepcid. The vet wrote to give it for 2 weeks, so we're 1 week into it. I stopped the Reglan today as she doesn't seem to need it anymore. She's soo much herself today and didn't need any pain meds either. I even had to message my husband to make sure he hadn't given her anything...

    Average cost for teeth cleaning?

I live in a high COL area and I was quoted anywhere from 800-1500+ for a routine teeth cleaning. I'm traveling over an hour away to the middle of nowhere tomorrow with my kitty Marble to get hers done in the 300-500 range.

My baby had surgery yesterday- support requested.

I'm happy to report Mia continues to be more and more like herself. Her first dose of Tramadol (1/4 tablet) ended up being a bit much (dilated pupils- obviously stoned) so I didn't give her another dose on Saturday. But she acted like she felt so much better in the meantime. No more hunched over...

My baby had surgery yesterday- support requested.

Mia is has made some small improvements since the last update. Last night, I was excited to see her actually lick the food (though she didn't "eat" any) and this morning she did actually eat a small amount of the babyfood on her own, though most of her meal was still fed by me. She is getting...

    Asthma?

Hello,  My kitty actually ended up not being prescribed with anything. That last major episode was almost 3 yrs ago and many typical asthma triggers were present the night before it happened so I've made some changes to help avoid those the best I can. She only has her minor episodes about once...

My baby had surgery yesterday- support requested.

Good news! I just got off the phone and the vet said Mia's bloodwork is "completely normal". So that rules out renal disease and liver disease... And possibly lymphoma too? Does that show up on a CBC?  She is still not eating. I got excited she finally had a BM last night, albeit tiny, I'm glad...

    Asthma?

Did the vet takes xrays or anything? One of my cats has intermittent coughing/wheezing spells. The vet did an xray when I brought her in for a spell she couldn't quite recover from and said the pattern in her lungs was consistent with asthma.  Try to catch the episode on video, if you can and...

Yes, the vet is going to call with the results in the morning.

Thank you for your kind words. You do not cause any stress,  you confirmed what I was already thinking and feeling (not sure if it was evident in the original post but I felt incredibly guilty about the surgery debacle).  I mentioned earlier my husband I moved to the area in the past year or...
