Way back in 2008 a stray kitty showed up at our door, pregnant and homeless. I am SO alleric to cats it would possibly kill me to live...

    Thanks to all of you!

I would love to share pictures of Smoky and her kittens! Please direct me to the message that tells how to post pictures. I have never done that here and could not find the instructions that I know I have read previously. Thanks!

    Thanks to all of you!

Last Summer a pregnant stray showed up at our house. I faithfully read all the advice the members here gave. Having never had a cat before, we learned to feed our pregnant cat, to cage or confine her and to feed her nourishing kitten food. On August 22th she gave birth to four cute, healthy...

I need advice on finding Kitten homes!!!

For 16 years we had a Husky that was allergic to something in almost every food on the market. We finally found one expensive brand that she could tolerate and became resigned to have to buy it for her for the rest of her life. A vet recommended a product much cheaper that sold at a local pet...

    Spaying/Nursing....

I am so glad to have read this thread! Our kittens are 8 weeks old and I would love to get the mom spayed. I am in the same situation as sadieandziggy. The mom is in heat and driving us crazy. She even seems annoyed with the kittens. I was ready call to make an appointment tomorrow, now I...

    room temp or refridge?

I always refrigerate the left overs, but sometimes before feeding it to them I put it in a microwave-safe dish and nuke it a few seconds "just to knock the chill off."

    Wwyd?

I feel a little like your SIL. I was only being a kind person to allow a pregnant stray to give birth in my basement. I am EXTREMELY allergic to cats! These kittens are now 5 1/2 weeks old and they are running all over the bathroom and foyer in the basement. Even though I am living on...

    Eyes Opening

I just saw Cookie's cute little kitten pictures on her thread! Smoky's kittens were born the same day and only one of the four have not opened his eyes yet. They will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and all 3 of his siblings had their eyes opening 3 or 4 days ago. I feel sorry for him - he is at a...

    Litter Flinging!!

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I got the Rubbermaid tub AND use less litter. There is much less litter flung on the floor. The kittens are only 8 days old. But I will save the short box for the kittens. If the mom starts using it again, the litter will be all over the place again. Oh...

    Litter Flinging!!

Thanks Manda, Where do you find a litter box with high sides? I was contemplating buying a Rubbermaid tub of some sort with high sides. I will try using less litter. At this point I'll try nearly anything. It could only be worse if she stopped using the box altogether! Yuck!

    Litter Flinging!!

I have an outside mother cat that is currently living in my basement until her kittens are adopted and she is spayed. I just watched the most fascinating display of litter flinging! This cat makes a HUGE mess with her litter every time she uses the box. She will even fling poop out of the...

    New kittens!

Thanks for your well-wishes! It appears that four kittens are the magic number. I am so glad that she did not have a huge litter, I know it will be hard to find good homes for these kittens. One of the reasons I was determined to have these kittens born inside was so that they can become...

    New kittens!

Our stray cat, Smoky, has just given birth to her fourth kitten this morning. When we woke up, she already had two. Then two more followed around 8:30. I'm still watching for more. She seems exhausted and is sleeping. We were successful in confining her to a large dog crate. I am very glad...

    Confining Pregnant Stray

After about a week of slowly introducing her to the crate in our basement, she is now spending the nights and afternoons in it. Since it's been near 100 degrees outside this week, I gave her no choice and placed her in the cage one afternoon. I think she realized the A/C inside was much better...

    Confining Pregnant Stray

Oddly enough this cat has been very friendly and loveable when she's outside. Until this past week (when she has either been hormonal or ticked at us for trying to put her in a cage!) she would jump on our laps if we were sitting on the porch. I'm going to keep trying to get her acclimated to...

    Confining Pregnant Stray

A little over a month ago a pregnant stray cat arrived in our neighborhood. We spent a couple of weeks trying to find out if she had an owner and just became lost, then we went away for a week, upon returning it was obvious that she was pregnant (and probably had been when she first showed up)...
