Frequent Vomiting - Cat at vet's now for tests

I took my adult cat, Tallie in this morning to be checked out. She's been vomiting quite a bit lately, and last night, it was sort of clear, but looked blood tinged. Vet is doing x-rays, blood and urinalysis (blood and urine going to outside lab - will be back tomorrow). Tallie is about six...

What can I feed 8 wk old kitten?

My new "foster kitty" (ha ha, that's a joke around our house) is about seven to eight weeks old. I've never had a kitten before. My others came to me as adults. Should I be feeding him anything besides dry kitten food? I gave him a treat this morning and he loved it, but I'm not sure I...

Found a precious kitten, now to find him a home....

My husband found an orange tabby baby kitty running around a very busy Starbuck's parking lot. He was tiny then, only about five or six weeks old. Some customers were shooing this poor little baby and kicking at him. There was no sign of a mother cat or siblings, and my hubby couldn't bear...

Fostering new cat(s) - five months old

I currently have two adult cats, both about seven years old. One is a very sweet male, the other is a not-so-sweet female (what is it with the girls?!). I am getting one or two male foster kitties this week, about five months old. I will be using the introduction method favored here. New...

    Dental yesterday - lethargic today

Bella had her dental (cleaning) yesterday. She was fine when I brought her home, eating, and acting normally. This morning she seemed fine. When I came home three hours ago, she was curled up on the sofa, and has not moved. I immediately gave her a pain shot and put her on a heating pad (on...

    Surgery and Dental Monday

Bella's "spay explore" surgery is Monday. She is also having some teeth pulled. Please send some good vibes our way! I really didn't want to have both procedures done at once, but our vet thinks it's better to put her under only once and get everything done.

    Bad breath and other issues

I am taking my cat to the vet tomorrow, but I wanted to post here and get some feedback. I'm starting to freak out a little. Bella, the black cat I rescued in November, is having some issues. She has ROTTEN breath. I don't think it's her mouth that's causing the issue. Teeth and gums...

    Top entry litter box

Has anyone ever used one of these litter boxes: I'm wondering if my cats would be afraid to use it. I have a dog and there's no way he'd get in this litter box. It's not really a problem for us, but you never can tell what they'll get into. I wonder if it would be too stinky.

Is it unsafe to spay an older cat?

I know this is something my vet will have to help me with. We're going in next week. I adopted an adult female from a local kill shelter. They said she was spayed, but she acts like she's not. Will the vet be able to tell by examining her? If she's not spayed, will it be safe to do so...

    Begs like a dog!

My new kitty, Bella, begs worse than my dog. Seriously. It doesn't matter what I'm eating, she hovers, meows and tries to get my food. The moment I open the fridge or pantry, she's right there, begging. She was picked up as a stray, so I imagine she ate whatever she could find to survive...

    Santa's Little Helpers

My handsome boy, Marley, loving the camera: Acting pitiful here: Bella wasn't as cooperative: Her best Grinch impression:

Marley pics and a cute video

I'm not sure if I've ever posted these, so here goes: From 'I can has Cheezburger': Modeling his 'Build A Bear' clothes: A video of him and one of my rabbits, who is in love with him: My favorite picture of Marley:

    Ear Flaps?

My new kitty, Bella, has very prominent flaps on her ears (at the base on the rear ridge). Is this normal? Marley doesn't have it. I've only had cats for seven months, so I'm still a little "green".

New adult female with resident male

I rescued an adult female a couple of weeks ago. I read up on bonding and followed all the rules. New cat (Bella) is still sleeping in her "safe room", but is allowed out a couple of hours at night when we can supervise. Resident male (Marley) is very interested and friendly. Bella is not...

    Laundry Kitty

I hadn't seen Marley in a while, so I went looking. This is what I found: I throw clean socks, wash cloths, etc. in there (because I'm too lazy to fold them and put them away). Marley thinks it's a great new bed for him. He's never done this before. How did he get in there???

My cat says "hello" like a human

I adopted a new cat last week. We've kept her in our spare bedroom since we got her (ear mites, plus want to do intros carefully). In the mornings when she wants attention, she meows "hello" over and over. It sounds like a human! More specifically, a human with a British accent! I'd seen a...

    Hello!

Hi All, I'm new here. I'm also fairly new to the world of cats as well. I got my first cat, Marley through a rescue group in May. Last week, I rescued Bella from a kill shelter. Her time was almost up and I couldn't leave her there. Marley will be 7 in January and Bella is about 5 (not...

    Mites - Help please

I adopted a new kitty from a shelter last Thursday. I noticed she had ear mites, so I took her back and the shelter treated her ears Saturday. I then noticed she has "dandruff" along her spine, so I'm assuming it's fur mites. Will flea and tick "spot on" medicines kill mites? I got some at...
