It's like any other yummy/fun thing that has the potential to be harmful...."everything in moderation!"
I like to mix it with some dry, or just watch Molly chase the can (safely opened) around the kitchen floor!
If she's strictly indoors I would suggest vaccinations every 3 years. Indoor cats somehow get out occassionaly, I would hate to think something may happen if they had no vaccinations.
That's an impressive looking scratch post! Good job!! I want to hear more about home made cat furniture!!! I have always wanted to get some for my kitties, but waaay to expensive!!
Hey, you could start your own scrach post company, that would be an easy job! I'm sure mom and dad would be...
I love this thread!
Cats are definately individuals, each very unique! My cats are slow happy tail waggers and fast, twitching excited/aggravated tail waggers! Over time, if you pay attention and tune in, you'll learn your kitty's "tells," it's like playing poker!
I did the exact same thing with Sunny as a kitten, 5 months to declaw seems kinda young. I remember having to wait longer to do both at the same time because of his age. I do know that I was guilt ridden for a couple weeks until he began to return to normal. He'll get there, I'd back off of the...
All great advice!! When the kitty is older you may even consider a lion shave. The groomer will take all the hair, except face and end of tail, down to about 1/4-1/2 inch - probably whatever you specify. It's great for the summer, and no more mats!!
The honest kitchen claims to put out a very high quality product, I've got samples on the way! It's ultimately up to the kitties whether they'll eat something or not. Email them and ask if they could send you a sample to try before you purchase it.
Molly is the one I expected to be really bad, they put her in a "cat burrito bag." The vet had to milk her anal glands, so they even broke out the welders gloves!! She screamed like a bunny rabbit!! That was pretty bad too, but now that she's home it's like nothing ever happened.
Sunny is my...
Today was my big veterinary day...I took both the kids in, one in the a.m. and one in the p.m.. Sunny had 4 shots this morning, and he didn't handle it well at all!! I have NEVER seen him in such an all out, hysterical, spaz out, hissy fit! He literally looked like the tazmanian devil, at one...
My DH and I each had a cat when we got married, a male and a female both "fixed." They have been together for almost 5 years and still do not get along. They get into fights with the rare minor injury, but we try to break them up when we are around. They tolerate each other, never getting to...
You know, I've read several threads mentioning vets giving pain meds to take at home post-op. Neither of my cats had this....maybe it's a school of thought some MD's subscribe to and some don't.
I agree, pain meds act as sedatives. Even my Sunny was pretty lethargic for a week or two after he was neutered and declawed. He returned to his normal mischevious self though!!
Make sure he's drinking plenty, pain meds can cause constipation.
