    Need advice, second cat?

Unfortunately the second cat concept has to be nixed. Mali has come up with a whole new issue in the form of an e. coli infection. Not sure really what it means, but her vet doesn't think a second cat is at all a good idea anymore. Thanks to all for your help and advice. =)

    Need advice, second cat?

I've fostered dogs, but I haven't fostered cats - mostly because I am overly worried about Mali's immune system and what those cats might bring in. The vet has this stunning white cat, 14 years old, and healthy other than some old-age arthritis which glucosamine is helping. He grew up with...

    Need advice, second cat?

Mali can definitely get along with other cats so long as I don't rush things. I didn't end up getting the cat I had a hold on, I'm not convinced he's quite the right fit for my house; but I am going to continue on a serious search for the right fit and see if I can't find the right second cat...

    Need advice, second cat?

That's a very good point, that a kitten could be a 2 year annoyance. Mali is playful, but almost certainly not in the way a young kitten would be for a few years. She has definitely slowed down. Other than living with an adult that she basically raised (not hers, though), she's never been...

    Need advice, second cat?

Hey all, It's been awhile since I've been here. I come hoping to receive some advice from other cat lovers. I have an 8 year old female bengal. Mali has feline triad disease, as well as major kidney problems. She's currently stable on medication, active, playful, and seemingly happy. Mali...

CRF - Chronic Renal Failure:links and experiences with

Thank you, Pookie -- I live in a lovely, lovely area in Mass that happens to be very far away from any decent airport. My folks live in NY and have agreed to let me, my friend, and my cats overnight there then take us to the airport. It also happens to be the only airport with non-stop...

CRF - Chronic Renal Failure:links and experiences with

Thank you again to everyone for your comments. Mali's specialist has said it's renal failure; it's an interesting situation - my vet, whom I love, is an eternal optimist - the specialist is a pessimist. The specialist has said I have a few months, 1-2 years maximum with Mali; whereas my vet...

CRF - Chronic Renal Failure:links and experiences with

Just to follow up on my postings, the vet e-mailed me the numbers for Mali's recent blood-work (Tuesday): She is on Ursodial til I talk to her specialist - her liver crashed a few months ago but has been solid for a month now, so we're weaning her off the liver meds and getting her on more...

CRF - Chronic Renal Failure:links and experiences with

Thank you, again! I think yesterday may have been an off day. Today I have her eating chicken breats - finely diced (she abides the chew 100 times rule) and she cleaned up. She gets many small portions throughout the day as large meals cause her to vomit. I did just talk to my vet, and she...

CRF - Chronic Renal Failure:links and experiences with

Thank you, that should be very helpful. She is on a multi-vitamin to make sure she gets Taurine and all of the other things that the cold cuts lack - and I still try new food nearly every day, if not twice a day. The fact is, that cold cuts is what she eats and the only thing that she eats...

CRF - Chronic Renal Failure:links and experiences with

Hello everyone, I wanted, first, to thank you all for this thread, it has a lot of great information that I need to spend some time with. A lot of the threads here seem to indicate older cats; I am currently dealing with a CRF cat who is only 4.5 years old. Her specialist has indicated that...
