I have a very special guy, too. My cats can go outside in the garden (fenced in) and on the back porch when I am not home. Only one of t hem, my Anmato Amadeus, sits outside all day waiting for me, no matter what the weather. The others stay inside and sleep. Amato will not go in until I do. He...
One of my Torties lost her voice, too. She is a "talker", constantly talking in a loud and not so pleasant a voice. She had laryngitis, I think, which resolved in a few days. It was awfully quiet here, I must say!
If it's the medication that is causing it, the vet can give you Lactulose, a kind of goopy substance that really works if you can get the cat to eat it. Mine always gagged on it, though.
It does make sense that not eating solids would not build enough stool.
I am so sorry you are going through this. I do have to agree that letting him go, right away, is the kindest the most loving thing you can do. He is in pain and can't urinate himself.
And I understand you are in pain, too, but as someone above pointed out, the sooner you give him the gift of...
I use Purina Kitten Chow. It is meant to nourish the growing little ones, high in calories and protein, and I have never found a cat who would not gobble it down.
If you Google High Calorie Cat Food, there are lists of foods with their calorie count.
I wish I had your problem! All mine tend...
That is so hard to take, and those images are so powerful. I still have mental images of cats I lost 3 years ago, painful to see them
I had a cat die from a blood clot in the heart. They die just like that, suddenly. As far as I know, there is no pain. Bless you for taking such good care of...
Glad the medication is working. I have given my cats pain meds for different conditions, and they do work wonders. Mine were injections followed by tablets at home.
This post probably belongs on another forum, but I have no idea where, so mods, please move it.
For months now, I have been keeping my cat alive with fluids and hand feedings. As in my other posts, these feedings take 10-15 minutes each, and I have to stand with her and encourage her to eat...
I am going through the same thing with one of mine, and I have decided that the time will be when she is suffering. I have to feed mine many times a day by hand, but she is comfortable as long as I give her fluids weekly. She has end-stage renal failure. I've gone back and forth on this: when...
As I have written before, my Wisner has late-stage renal disease. I am keeping her going with weekly fluids and daily spoon feedings of Fancy Feast.. She will eat only a tablespoonful at time, so I am constantly interrupting everything to feed her. It takes her a good 10 minutes to eat that...
I had idea this happened to cats coming from a shelter. Mine all did, so I never encountered it. Cats are so prone to reacting to stress.
What you are doing sounds as if it should help. Can you put a collar on her?
Otherwise, can you find another vet? It sounds like a skin condition of some...
250 is a great amount! The vet tech got 200 into my small cat, and she started eating immediately. I can't do it at home, can't make her stay still. Even the vet tech almost lost her several times.
She will ONLY eat Fancy Feast, though. Now a spoiled cat who will refuse anything else. You can...
Just a thought: there was a phone number for a grief hotline posted yesterday . My vet said there are several of them. Might talking to someone help you right now?
I can imagine what a shock it was to find your furry like that. It's hard to comprehend and believe when it happens like that. Go ahead and cry, it will heal you. Another cat might help, but not immediately. I think she would want you to have one, though, to love and keep you company.
She had a...
Oh, many thanks for this information! I have lost 2 and suffered so much with no one to talk to about them. I will soon lose another, and the thought of it drives me into hours of crying. I will call them. What a gift.
I agree about the baby food - I use Stage 2, chicken only.
I cannot figure out why they make the slices or pieces in gravy. My cats never eat the pieces, either, so I always have to put it in the blender. I have never seen one of my cats eat the pieces.
Mine would never eat the plain chicken...
