    How long can introductions last?

I guess my main worry is that this won't work at all. During the first (failed) introduction, the new cat (Tomoe) often tried to intimidate the resident (Honzo)--she would charge at him, run after him, attack him, everything. But he is consistently fearful and will not stand up for himself...

    How long can introductions last?

Hi everyone, I'm just curious if anyone has any experience with very long introduction periods for cats? How long can it be necessary to keep them separated? I've posted a couple of times with my introduction woes...I actually completely botched the first attempt at introduction and had to...

    Hi from a newbie!

Hi everyone, I'm new here and found this site while searching for some info on cat introductions to help me deal with my anxieties about recently getting another cat! So far I've found a lot of really useful info here. No pictures yet (I hope to post a couple soon), but here is an introduction...

    Wet Mouse Syndrome????

My new cat Tomoe seems to do the same thing. I had never seen it before, but my husband went to check on her one morning and found one mouse toy in her food bowl and one in her water bowl! I thought that was pretty funny. Our other cat only puts his toys in his food bowl, never the water bowl.

my new cat is aggressive towards our resident cat! Any tips?

I will definitely try that with the blankets. I have one that Tomoe's been sleeping on since she lived with her foster mom that might work. I've heard about the vanilla trick, but can you explain it again? So I need to dab a small amount of vanilla extract at the base of the tail and somewhere...

my new cat is aggressive towards our resident cat! Any tips?

Hi everyone, I recently posted my concerns about introducing my new cat Tomoe to my resident cat Honzo. Now that I've observed the situation further, I have a better handle on the dynamic between the 2 cats. Unfortunately as it turns out, Tomoe is kind of aggressive and she's no longer afraid...

    introducing 2 adult cats

I did read the article, and a few others I found on this site as well! Thanks for pointing me to it. Still, any real-life experiences of dealing with aggressive cats would be appreciated. Although I've only experienced 2 fights between Tomoe and Honzo so far, I don't want to experience any more...

    introducing 2 adult cats

So, since I last posted, things are pretty much the same. The two kitties have only been exposed to each other since Sunday. However, they have gotten into 2 fights, both (most likely) initiated by the new cat. I realize that because those fights happen, I was clearly not supervising them...

    introducing 2 adult cats

Right--I definitely don't expect a week and a half to be enough time, I just wanted to make sure everything seems OK to those who know! I will certainly be watching them to see how things progress. I've been telling my husband it could take a very long time for things to settle down, but when he...

    introducing 2 adult cats

Hi everyone, I'm new here and I've been reading the forums a bit to get acquainted. One of the reasons I joined here (and read the forums) was because I recently got a second cat and am doing cat-to-cat introductions for the first time ever. I've been reading a lot about introductions, but I've...
