Please dont do that - its like cutting off the equivalent of our fingertips. You can get those plastic covers that go over their nails if you dont want to trim his nails - your vet can put them on for you.

please get your cat to the vet - cats cannot go that long w/o food. they can develop liver lipidosis and renal failure like you said.

The essential part of treatment for hepatic lipidosis is that they must eat - but since their liver is so sick, they are nauseus and have no appetite - thus they need to be force fed. I had a cat that died of it before we could get the feeding tube in. Force feedings are the key!

My cat loves to lick all plastic and vinyl - plastic bags, the shower curtain liner, everything. Also loves to chew on rubber bands. I absolutely am hypervigilant to keep all plastic (and rubber bands) away from him. He would probably chew the plastic bag if he had a chance.

My cat was once 1-2lbs overwt and the first thing the vet recommended was limiting or eliminating the dry food. Think of a cat as a mini-lion or tiger - they have no use for dry food.
