Hi thanks for your story, that's so nice!
Things are going REALLY REALLY well with our little kitty. She's adjusting really well. I am now thinking she's closer to 11-12 weeks...but she is super sweet, calm, and playful...really just a wonderful temperament to her. My mom is so close to taking...
ah yes i see the resemblance! Both my boyfriend and I are able to care for her so its a good start....she will definitely be introduced to people...I've already been doing that slowly...my mom comes and visits and pokes her head in to say hi...she seems oK w/ that.
I don't think there were onions in there - just chicken and sodium really...not real happy about the sodium though. I'm double checking that today though. This morning she didn't want to eat too much...i think she had snacked on the dry food I left for her though so thats ok....
Oh and she...
ok i opened the door and the whole crew came in lol....first charlie...the kitty hissed and stood up in attack stance...charlie stepped back...then looked at me to be pet, kinda "shrugged his shoulders like a cat would", and walked out. The kitty just sat and growled for a few seconds. Then...
wow thank you again for all the suggestions! Much of what you have told me, I'm already doing or have read online - tho don't get me wrong, you have mentioned a few new things too - and are offering wonderful suggestions - I'm very grateful. I'm definitely taking it slow...I could not possibly...
Thank you all for the kind replies. LDG, what you said about the de-worming is why I asked because when I had gotten my charlie, he had 3 doses to get rid of his worms...I'll call the vet tomorrow I think!
I have no intention of ever leaving her out of the crate in my office...if anything I...
Hi there, I've come here to share my story, as well as take any advice offered! I've been reading a lot on this forum and online about different ways to help socialize and interact with a feral kitten, which has been SO SO helpful.
Someone at my company found a kitten, and possibly a mother...
Rone, I'm in da burbs...Mundelein...near Vernon Hills....I hate our PetCo! But the PetSmart near us is pretty great....we found Blue Spa and AvoDerm foods there to be good...but w/ PFD i can buy in bulk, and it comes to my door..tho i am concerned w/ it coming and sitting outside in the heat all...
good suggestions moggie..thats exactly what I've been trying to do w/ charlie....cept Vegas my little piggy will eat his portion too if we leave it out...and I now have to stop feeding vegas on the floor of the kitchen and put her food up high because our dog has a new thing where he stands...
So thought i would share an update on my kitties switch to all wetfood...
Vegas is a whole new cat!!! No more vomiting - AT ALL!!! ]She's on all wet food right now (i just ordered Wellness cans from PFD) and couldn't be happier! She's acting more social than usual, letting me pet her little...
lol i do this w/ my cat too....he is still not used to it...but getting MUCH MUCH better! Every summer and spring i have to start over w/ him...actually i take em both out one at a time.....both are OK with them....don't love it but know they cannot go outside w/out it on. They act pretty normal...
thanks for all your help beandip....you have been very helpful. I am going to stop the free feeding tonight. I'll take the dry away after Vegas eats dinner. Then, I'll start feeding Charlie his dry food meals in the morning, and at night, and try to squeeze in the wet a little more every day -...
Well....vegas will eat ANYTHING wet I've learned...so far at least. Charlie is the finicky one I am worried about. Right now Vegas eats Purina Pro Plan natural...but i'm not fond of all the ingredients and would prefer to order a grain free wet food as mentioned in previous threads I have read...
thank you....I 100% agree that our cats choose us!!!! So was the case w/ both my charlie and vegas! Vegas, my family kind of volunteered ME to take in....she belonged to my grandfather, and when he passed away a few years ago, I took her in....it was def. a change for me as well, as before that...
Great suggestions for sure! So you think I should just boom take away the dry food immediately? Or is there a way to ease into this? I'm so afraid they are going to starve if I just take away the dry! What if I feed them the wrong amount? NOt enuf, too much? Should I just mix the dry w/ the wet...
I think that usually vets try to steer you away from the wet food...and I think MOST people use dry because it can be more economical and convenient...I've thought about switching my cats over to an all wet too...however Charlie barely eats the wet when I put it in front of him, he def. prefers...
What those kids need are counseling....it is sad, but obviously they are getting morbid ideas on how to treat animals...imagine their disregard for other PEOPLE! Children like this grow up to be killers. These kids need help. and as angry as this story has made me, and as much as I'd like to...
Update on the little black kitten!!! He now has a name: Mickey. AND My mom has definitely warmed up to him! She's kissin' him all over and lovin' him up (fleas & all!). I am confident all will be good now! She's starting to understand what we already know. I'm so happy! Thanks guys for the warm...
