SCREW THIS!!!! I give up clipping his nails

Our cat Poe is the same way, He howls like he is being stabbed every time we do it. The last time he sounded like a mac truck running at idle for about 30-45 seconds straight. Really low and even growl. He does not like his nails clipped at all, but I don't like being punctured even less, so...

    Strange Cat Cough + Movie

Starts out sounding like a hairball cough and then turns really wheezy towards the end. I think the X-rays are a good idea.

SCREW THIS!!!! I give up clipping his nails

Have one person scruff him and pull him over on his side so he is laying down, while scruffing, have that same person take his other hand and hold the back legs so the cat can't get any leverage to pull away. Then clip. Just watch the mouth though, he may try to bite.

    Wire biting....Plz help

I haven't found anything that works reliably. I've tried everything, and it doesn't matter how we discipline him, he always comes back for more.

Dino Sneezing - advise pls :(

Yeah Poe has been sneezing once in a while too. Not often. I figure it's just all the smoke. It's definitely given me sneezing fits when I go outside.

    YIKES...Brown Recluse Spider Bite

Nasty things. Worse than Black Widows in a lot of ways because the flesh rots and dies if it goes for too long. Not sure how it affects cats but I watched something on the discovery channel and a college student had been bitten in the school library on the hand, 24 hours later he had red...

Should I Get Rid Of My Cat?

If you don't have time to train this cat what makes you think another one won't have other issues that need will need some work and time on your part? Owning a pet is a pretty big responsibility. Your cat is running roughshod over you because he can. You have to teach him that he can't...

Rufus Likes to Bite; How to Stop Him?

That sounds to me as if Rufus is asserting his dominance over you. If he's biting your legs reach down and grab the back of his neck and push his head down to the ground and hold him there for several seconds. He will understand what it means as only his mother or a more dominate cat would do...

Why Does My Kitten Eat My Hair

I took some painkillers for my back earlier tonight (I have degenerative disc disease, fairly bad case of it). and fell asleep on the bed. I woke up to Poe grooming my head. He was switching off between grooming me and himself. hehe. I think it's fairly normal, and I don't use hairspray...

What about sun lamps for cats?

I don't know if they have one for cats but they have them for humans. People who live in climates with a lot of cloud cover (Like Seattle) use them if they suffer from depression. Apparently something about the sunlight helps combat depression. It's called Seasonal Affective Disorder. :P...

21 year old cat - behaviour problems - howling too much

She could also be suffering from dementia which is not unheard of in older cats. The Yowling could be because she gets confused or forgets where she is for a few moments. Some Symptoms of Feline Dementia can include: Sleep pattern changes where the cat tends to be up more at night, Pacing...

    Cats & water

Some cats do like Water, and I've heard that a large amount of Bengals enjoy playing in water.

    Hairball or vomit or what??

still don't know why. He ended up barfing 4 times yesterday. He'd eat some food, and barf. We actually did find some hairballs (not really very big). After the 4th time we removed his food dish and gave him a bit of milk (Sometimes he'll refuse to go in his litter box if it is not...

    Bob's getting agressive

Next time he does something like this, scruff him and hold him for about 30 seconds longer than he wants to be held. Push his head down toward the ground and keep him there. consider it a mini-time-out. Don't let him go until you are ready to do so. He will learn quickly who is dominant and...

Rufus Likes to Bite; How to Stop Him?

I've got a friend who does the same thing when his cat gets too frisky and bites him. What we do with Poe is just put him in his carrier for a little bit, but only if it's an aggressive bite. (out of meanness or irritation). If he's just enjoying the rubs and reaches up and kinda puts his...

    Hairball or vomit or what??

Thanks, I appreciate it. We will be keeping an eye on him. He's passed out on the corner of the bed now, that's pretty normal. hehe.

    Hairball or vomit or what??

My cat just Vomited for the first time. I've never seen a hairball before, but this looked like plain old Vomit. I saw no ball of hair and no droolie-stuff that I've heard people mention. Poe started Yeowling like crazy and I thought it was because his mom just left and he was missing her...

I am having the worst day ever!!!! Can't do it!

It always seems like you are going to hurt the kitty if you scruff them too hard, but it won't. The skin back there is tough as nails. You have to remember that mom's got razor sharp teeth, and that's what she uses to pick the kittens up with.

Thats It! I am done with her

IMO that may end up being better for her then just tossing her outside. If the cat doesn't have the skills to survive you could just be trading one death for another. And the death outside could be a lot worse.
