APBTs are not, as a breed, protective. Individual tempermants may vary but protectiveness is not a breed charateristic. This is a breed that has been bred to be dog agressive but should show no agressive tendancies towards humans. They are not a dog that would be expected to protect a human or...
This is not typical APBT behavior and if you are going to call the rescue about the cats I would definatley let them know about this as well. An ABPT is not supposed to show agression towards humans and needs to be dealt with by an experienced handler if it has.
In addition to the above groups I would also be very wary of sighthounds (greyhounds, afghans etc) and some pointers. Any breed can work but it may take alot of supervision and training and you may never be able to leave them alone unsupervised. We have 3 dogs a pug x, a lab and a pit/lab x and...
Dilbert got a catnip cigar and a fleece thingy on a stick which he loves, and a new comb which he isnt too thrilled about.
The humans got...Dilbert. We adopted him a few weeks ago and decided he would be both our christmas presents.

That is your opinion. Every dog is different. I would be less likely to allow a sighthound or northern breed around my cat than a well behaved pit.
A pit IS more likely to chase than SOME breeds, they have a very high prey drive. However that is a risk that needs to be understood from the...
We have had Dilbert for a few weeks now. We slowly introduced him to the dogs and he was unsure at first but now he seems comfortable around them. Maybe too comfortable now. We have 3 dogs a lab, a lab/pit mix and a pug mix. The cat, Dilbert, will come up to the dogs, rub against them and then...
When we had a cali king we used to put an upsidedown plastic container in the cage with the top on the container and cut a hole in it so he could go in. I forgot what we had on the bottom of the container but it was something that retained moisture pretty well, I think it came in a brick at the...
Dilbert doesnt play on his tree, he just uses it as a perch to sit on so he can stare out the window. He wasnt really interested in it when we had it by the wall.
Daisy our lab just started to calm down and she is 2.5 yrs. When you say running do you mean playing in the yard or you running with the pup beside you? If you are running please be careful with a puppy that young. They shouldnt be running with you until they are older as it can contribute to...
Anyone have any tips for getting a cat with a URI to eat? His nose is all stuffed up. The vet suggested canned food since it smells stronger but he isnt interested. He is drinking normally and there is pee in the litterbox so I think he is ok as far as hydration.
How can I get him to eat? We...
It is never too late to start obediance training your dog. You can teach him to leave prey objects alone in the house it just has to do with establishing yourself as pack leader. I hunt with my 2 year old lab, but she knows what is expected in the house is different from what I want in the...
I am in the process of getting 2 9yr olds (a pug mix and a lab/pit mix) and a 2 yr old (lab) used to cats so I do believe it can be done, it just has to be done slowly.
He is 2 articles on introducing them.

We keep our house at 60 during the day and 50 while we sleep and Dilbert doesnt seem unhappy. He even sleeps by the window at night which is colder. He does have a heavy coat though since he is a Maine Coon mix so it probably does depend on the cat.
He is kind of weird about it because he will bite my hand or grab it with his paws and then wait a moment and then start rubbing on my hand to be petted again. I was most concerned about it because he will sit on my lap and put his paws on my chest and rub his head all over my face and I wasnt...
Hi,
We just adopted a cat from the shelter. The lady there said he was probably a maine coon mix or something like that. He weighs about 10 lbs. They werent really sure how old he is. We named him Dilbert. I have never had a cat but we have 3 dogs. He is very friendly and curious and doesnt...
