Here's pictures of the babies.
This one is Chunny. She is the resident cat. The biggest sweetheart I have EVER met. She truly doesn't act like a cat at all! She loves to talk and be loved on, and in the winter always likes to sleep under the covers...
If she is trying to play, the why does the old cat react like this? I do play with both cats. I play "chase" with the old cat quite frequently throughout the day. The new cat is a little more tough, as she isn't as playful as the old cat. I have a streamer that I have been using with her and she...
I guess I don't really mean "punish", but interfering. But is giving the new cat a "time out" enough to show her that her behavior isn't acceptable?
Also, out of curiosity, why are you against spraying water and scruffing? Are these considered inhumane?
When you say to "intercept" what do...
I should also note this: The majority of the aggression occurs at night, after I get home from work, starting about an hour or two before bedtime. I am with both of them during the daytime and there is pretty much no fighting then. They mainly just sleep in their "spots" and ignore each other...
No, I'm fairly certain it's NOT play behavior. My old cat will howl and hiss when the new cat tackles her. The new cat will almost "stalk" the old cat, or rather she'll watch her from afar, and then if the old cat walks by, the new cat springs out and either chases her and tackles her, or ends...
Thanks for the response.
The only reason I let the two of them into the house together unseparated is b/c I live in a "loft-like" apartment with no separate rooms. It's a big place and there is lots of room for the cats to run around, but the only way to separate them is to put one in the...
I just rescued a very beautiful kitty from my backyard about a week ago. Took her to the vet, got her shots and everything. She's also declawed, which means she must have been someone's pet at some point.
I have another cat, about 2 years old and have had her for about a year. She is the...
I'm a little confused...is it just that you don't want your cat sleeping with you at night? B/c my first thought is to just let him in the room with you to sleep! Have you tried this? Or does he play on the bed all night?
I find that my kitty will sometimes be active right when i go to bed...
My sister has two full grown cats that are sisters and one of her girls STILL does this and suckles on herself. The only thing she can do is stop her from doing it. But, I would be inclined to think this is a behavior that would continue unless you are able to stop it.
She is adorable, btw!
Oh, and as for the meowing, so far so good. She been practically mute since I brought her home this afternoon. Well, that is, in comparison to what she was! Tonight will be interesting to see if she does any meowing at all.
I picked up Lola from the vet this afternoon and she's doing great. She was NOT pregnant, so it appears that all the howling was from being in heat! I slept like a baby last night though without her.
I don't know if I'm going to be able to keep her. My roommate is causing big problems and...
Well, I dropped the kitty off at the vet this morning for the spaying and will pick her up tomorrow. I haven't slept in 4 nights b/c of her meowing/howling, and am utterly exhausted! I'm looking forward to uninterrupted sleep tonight!!
What should I expect when I pick her up tomorrow? If she...
Well, waiting on her to have the kittens isn't an option. I feel like a terrible person for taking her to get spayed when she could possibly be pregnant, but I just don't see any other choice. I am having a hard time being able to keep her or find someone to take her, much less being able to...
Hmmm, you're right, it DOES sound like she is in heat. I thought for sure she is pregnant though. I'm trying to get her spayed on Friday, so I should know something by then, if I'm able to get the appointment.
If by some chance she is NOT in heat, and IS in fact pregnant, could the meowing and...
When the vet tech went to weigh her, she came back and said she thought she was pregnant. The vet gave her an abdominal exam and said that he couldn't be 100% sure, b/c if she's pregnant, she's still early on.
I thought about her possibly being in heat too, if she isn't pregnant. She does put...
Hi everyone! I just found this forum tonight when I was doing a search on Google for cat behavior.
Here's my story. I live in New York City (right in Manhattan). About 4 weeks ago, I woke up one morning and heard a cat meowing and crying very loudly outside. Stray cats are not unusual here in...
