While Hissy's opinion is respected, I disagree with bringing your pet to a vet just because the cat is licking stuff.
Bringing your cat to a vet involves putting him/her through a great deal of stress, and potentially exposes him/her to feline ailments, which can be deadly, such as the mutant...
I will always consult a vet if something is truly strange or my cat is acting unusual in a serious way. Never said NOT to.
I also said NOT to let your cat suffer in a corner, but seek treatment only when necessary, as you may subject your cat to greater potential problems from diseases...
Found this tiny critter in my driveway this
morning, and ants were swarming around him,
so I scooped him up, went to Petco and got
a little container, food, etc, and brought
him inside to hopefully recover.
I think he must've fallen from one of the
60-foot palm trees that line my sidewalk...
In another thread, someone mentioned that cats are really only for people with money. Personally, I don't think owning a cat has anything to do with money, but with its environment and degree of love and affection it receives.
My 22-year-old Tabby I put to sleep this past Christmas (which was...
Why some images show and others need downloading...
Say I send you an e-mail, and within the e-mail I include an attachment called "cat.jpg." The image is physically embedded/incorporated in the e-mail, so when you read my e-mail, the image is automatically displayed. In this case, once...
Very sorry yo hear about your loss.
However...I can't understand why people wait so long to do the humane thing for their pets. It should never be "I ended their suffering." It should always be "I prevented them from suffering."
As usual, my post will probably get deleted because my views...
My cat does the same thing every so often, but her stool is never soft; comes out in about 2-inch pieces. Isn't soft bad??? She also does it (sometimes) when/after she pees.
I think it's just her way of letting me know so I'll clean the box.
I hope, anyway.
I rescued my cat from a girl who was mentally neglecting it (and was about to get married, move away, and just let the cat go outside), and she got it from a shelter where it had been previously physically abused. *sigh*
I've had her for about 3.5 years. Took about 3-4 months for her to come...
Yeah, those stories make me angry and sad. The punishments for animal cruelty are a joke, and most get off with probation or less, even in extreme cases of abuse or neglect.
Life is life. Penalty for animal torture, cruelty or inhumane death should be the same as humans doing unto humans in...
Very sorry to hear about Sunniday. My cat of 23 years was diagnosed with kidney failure 6 months before I ended up putting him down this past Christmas.
If you love her, swallow your sadness and do the humane thing and euthanize her before she starts to suffer. My vet gave me the option of...
I wish you'd use punctuation in your lenghty paragraphs. Makes it extremely tough to read without it.
I'm not criticizing anything you do with your animals (I have no clue where the thing about your dog comes into play) as my reply referred to the "collective you" of the shelters, and the way...
If I lost both legs? Yes, I rather be put to sleep. Just like I feel that cat whose front paws were cut off should have been put to sleep.
Why should a cat have to "endure" the possibility of being put to sleep? Endure? What's it enduring? You act as though the cat is going to be...
I am NOT for "no kill" shelters, because animals who are never adopted can end up spending FAR too long cooped up in a metal cage and miserable, which IS cruel to the animal. I've visited the shelters and found cats who have been awaiting homes for more than 6 months. These cats look pathetic...
Are you a smoker and your roommates aren't?
Do you drink (alcohol) a lot?
Do you wear a lot of perfume?
Do you wear a lot of makeup?
Do you just stink, in general?
What I'm getting at is, perhaps there is something about you that cat is smelling and not liking. Most cats don't like the...
My 23-year-old cat was fed Chef's Blend for the last 17-20 years of his life (Friskies before that) and was healthy as could be.
I've tried Iams, Science Diet, gourmet stuff, all-natural stuff, etc, but they all smell really bad. Now, if your cat has sinus problems, the strong scent is good...
