    Administering Cosequin

Thank you all so much for the ideas...I would say thank you from Sallycat as well, but I'm pretty sure she considers all of you the enemy for giving me ideas on how to medicate her! She may not appreciate your wisdom, but I certainly do.

    Administering Cosequin

My trick, when I have to open any can, is to go into the bathroom and turn on the shower. That way they can't hear the distinctive can opener noise, although they can still smell it if it is something they like! People tend to look at me kind of funny when I grab a can of soup and the can...

    Administering Cosequin

Thank you! I will try a couple of those ideas. The tuna may work, but opening tuna in a house with eleven cats...well, that's just asking for a stampede!

    Administering Cosequin

I asked the vet and got no answers. It is a powder, so a pill pocket would not work. I think that the manufacturers cannot conceive of a cat who does not like wet food!

    Administering Cosequin

One of my cats was recently put on Cosequin. I was wondering if anyone had some ideas on how to administer it. I can't sprinkle it on her dry food because she is free-fed along with ten other cats. She doesn't like wet food or any sort of treat. I tried mixing it with water and using a...

    Liver problems

Update and another question... Cory starting eating yesterday! I couldn't find him anywhere at feeding time and was very surprised to find him hiding his head in the food bowl. Since four of my cats are black, I didn't know it was him until he lifted his head! He took a few more bites of dry...

    In DIRE need

I thought I'd move over to your post and offer what limited advice that I have. I don't know which medications you have available, but the one that seemed to help my guys the most is called Denosyl. They were also taking Marin, which has milk thistle extract (I believe). As far as...

    Liver problems

The vet was impressed by Cory's progress...he is less yellow and was being very affectionate at the vet's office (I think he was showing off!). He is keeping more of his food down, although he did get sick this morning. He has even started meowing a little bit, which is a good sign because he...

    Liver problems

Thanks! Good vibes are always welcome...it's been a rough couple of months. Having two cats with feeding tubes doesn't really make for a low-key household! Cory did actually have a breakthrough today that had me smiling all morning...he walked over to the food bowl and stuck his head in it as...

    Liver problems

Cory and Sally both go to the vet at least once a week to have their feeding tubes checked and for a general exam. I will be taking them in tomorrow, I just thought I'd throw my questions out there to see if they sounded familiar to anyone. Thanks!

    Liver problems

This may be a long post... Two months ago, one of my cats (Sally...6 years old and inside only) was diagnosed with Hepatic Lipidosis (through bloodwork, x-rays, an ultrasound, and a biopsy). She has always been tubby, so the diagnosis wasn't surprising, even though she had always been healthy...
