    OTC worming....what's the scoop?

The problem with most dewormers people by themselves is that they are for specific types of worms...types the buyer's animal may or may not have. I would let the vet take a look at the specific product and advise you as far as how to use it. If you kitten ever experiences a problem with...

    clavamox question

I believe Clavamox is egg based which is one of the reasons it needs to be kept cold. If it was in liquid form when it was prescribed, there is no need to add water.

    holistic medicine?

Chronic liver failure is one of those things you just can't "fix". A cat can be treated, but if the cat doesn't respond well to treatment... I had a cat years ago whose liver failed and I treated her very aggressivly for a great length of time. When it was all said and done, I felt as though I...

    Losing weight, twitching, can't stand

I agree with the post above. These are not simple problems that can be addressed on a chat board. If your kitty goes outside, ANYTHING could have happened to him. He may have injested a toxic substance or have even been hit by a car or attacked by another animal. Even when they aren't bleeding...

    Vaccinations?

Rabies is the only disease a cat is vaccinated for that can be passed to a human, but there are other vaccinations that the cat should get for the cat's sake. Some intestinal parasites could be transmited, but you son would have to ingest fecal matter. This would be very unsual, but could...

    Administering Pills Help!

I cradle my cat like a baby when I give her her thyroid medicication. She ALWAYS holds the pill in her mouth and tries not to swallow it. I massage her throat gently and blow in her nose very gently and those things cause her to swallow. Good luck!

    Clean Teeth?

It's a great idea to take good care of your cat's teeth. They shouldn't be horrible before you decide to get him in for a dental.

    Losing hair on stomach?

What kind of shampoo did they give you to bathe the kitten with? It sounds as though the vet may suspect Ringworm.

    urinary trouble

...sounds like a possible UTI or maybe even something more involved. A UTI can cause the cat to feel that she needs to urinate all the time despite the fact there may be no urine to expell. Cats with UTIs will commonly stand or squat in their litterboxes and not urinate. The pinkish colored...

oncoming food makes one kitten aggresive

My two littermate kittens were the same way when they heard the cans open. One was a crazy, aggressive kitty and one was just sort of there. The one who used to be aggressive is now the passive one. The kitten who was smaller and quiet before always has his face in the food dish now. They're...

I need HELP! I don't know what to do

18 is a good old age for a cat. Considering the problems he has, I don't think it would be unreaasonable to consider euthanasia if you feel he is uncomfortable and not able to be helped enough

    Will his fur change color?

I got two dark, solid grey kittens when they were 1 day (or less) old. Now, one is a light grey tabby and the other is a light grey tabby with lots of orange patches.

    Plz help... sick kitty

Why did they want to wait a day to do bloodwork and take xrays??? You could try to give her some pedialyte by mouth through a syringe or eyedropper to at least keep her hydrated, but she really needs to get back to a vet for diagnostics soon.

    Cleo needs to lose weight!

Even though it's a huge hassle, you're going to need to follow the vet's advice if you want your kitty's chances of developing weight related, health problems to be lessened. There is no "easy" way, unfortunately.

    teeth chattering...

I have a cat that does that, but only when bird watching. To me, it seems like she is trying to imitate the bird calls and lure the birds to her. Whatever it is, it's sure CUTE!

    Introducing new kitten

My cats hold each other down by the neck all the time. It's a way of showing dominence and submission in many cases. As long as the held cat is not distressed, I wouldn't worry. I would continue to keep them seperated until you're confident with their relationship, though.
