    Spray Marking vs Normal Peeing

My cat Lusa (spayed female, about a year old) is my first indoor only cat. She urinated on my bed and the dog's bed, but I'm not sure if it's spray marking or peeing. On my bed, she peed little droplets a vinyl picnic table cover cloth that I use to protect the mattress because my dog is old...

    Which would you rather have

I prefer medium dogs for my lifestyle (my husband and I hike and I birdwatch in the woods), but my heart melts when I see Shih Tzus (sp?), the short terriers, and Pugs! There are advantages and disadvantages for each category. You should just weigh the pros and cons honestly, talk to people who...

    Another Dog?

First, my condolences on your loss. 17 years is a long, long time and it's so painful to lose a friend you've had for that long. Personally, I wouldn't get another dog until your wife is on board. You might need to so some persuading, but it's really better for the whole family and the new dog...

    New Arm & hammer litter?

I'd like to hear more, too! Lusa likes A&H SuperScoop unscented but it's a bit dusty. How strong is the scent? Is it about the same as FreshStep?

Dog owners: In the bed or out?

My current dog, Stockey the pit bull, is allowed to sleep on the bed between DH and me. Stockey is polite and is a great snuggler on cold nights. The only problem is that he curls up into a ball and pulls all of the covers into his field of gravity. We had to buy a king sized comforter for our...

Former fighting pit bulls and cats

Here is one of the best sites you'll find for accurate information on American Pit Bull Terriers (APBTs) by an actual expert on the breed: http://www.workingpitbull.com/aboutpits.htm I've been involved with the breed for about 4 1/2 years and can say that it's not just "how you raise them."...

    Biting behavior...I'm confused?

Lusa is my female kitty, about 7 months old. I think she loves me since she follows me from room to room, initiates play, and...I feed her She's always been mouthy since I found her when she was about 1 month old. I was hoping that she'd outgrow the mouthiness, or that she was just teething...

    I think she's in heat

I talked to another vet tech when I scheduled her appointment and found out that the rule for waiting a month was for dogs, not cats...So, Lusa is scheduled for the 18th for her spay. The vet's going to give us the prophylatic antibiotics to give her 5 days pre-op. Thanks for the advice, everyone

    I think she's in heat

Thank you so much, Gayef! I'll ask the vet about the prophylactic antibiotics.

    I think she's in heat

Would anyone know how long Lusa will be in season (I'm sorry to ask such newbie questions)? She seems more like herself today. I called the vet's office and they told me that we'll have to wait for month before she can be spayed. That'll take us to the end of January. Please send Lusa good...

    I think she's in heat

Oh my goodness that's young! That's what I was afraid of. My husband and I will be extra careful about opening the front door. I'm so nervous.

    Joint supplements for dogs?

My 12 year old dog, Stockey, has mild arthritis in his hips. I suspected he was having a problem so I asked the vet to check specifically for arthritis. I've tried a couple of supplements for him -- Osteo3 and Joint Support Plus. The vet sells them right there in his office (our vet is quite...

    I think she's in heat

My kitty Lusa is about 6 1/2 months old. Our vet wanted to wait until the end of November to spay her because of her repeated URI problems (she was a stray). Well, she had a URI flare over Thanksgiving (runny green discharge from her nose) and was on antibiotics for a few weeks. Lusa is...

breeding a "chug" from an amish puppy mill

My hat's off to you, Jen, for trying to find out what's going on with this person. Good luck and I hope your efforts help this pup out. Most reputable rescues screen applicants carefully and will speuter if they can afford to do so. I can't believe any would intentionally release a dog to...

URI problems..will she ever feel better?

Thanks for your reply, KittenKiya. Yes, her sitter works at the vet's office. I suppose it is a possibility that she picked up something, but the symptoms are the same as before. I agree that a call to the vet or a visit is in order, though.

URI problems..will she ever feel better?

Thanks, Yayi. I was hoping there'd be something to get her over the hump, so to speak, to build her immune system. Vitamins, another supplement, anything... No, I don't come into regular contact with other people's cats - most of my friends and neighbors are catless. I never thought of the...

    What do I do?

Your obligation is to the cocker mix before the rotti foster. The cocker was there first and it would be unfair to him to rehome at this point. I'm sorry if it's hard for your husband to accept, but the obligation is there. The cocker didn't choose to have another (larger) pack mate added. If...

URI problems..will she ever feel better?

My kitty Lusa is between 5 and 6 months old. When I found her, she was about 4-6 weeks old and suffering from an URI. I feed her premium wet cat food and supplement with Viralys. She is UTD on her vaccinations. She seems to go through these relapses of eye goop/sneezing/coughing. The vet...

So I found this ad on Craigslist.....

Goodness, I can't believe I missed this thread! What a generous and good-hearted thing to do! It really warms my heart. It's SO difficult for older/senior dogs to get adopted, even though they can be such wonderful companions. Best of luck to you and the whole family. I can't wait to see...
