I let the kittens exlpore from the time they learn to climb the baby gate lol which is about 4-5 weeks old(is this wrong?). Untill then they stay in my bedroom, so when they start exploring they know that my room is their "safe house" they always sleep in there and none have ever gotten hurt...

When my girls had kittens, about 8 hours before labor kicked in, the cleaned themselves excessivly, so i didnt notice the plug, but they woke me up all 3 times and made me stay with them during, so in my case, they let me know lol I think i would just keep an eye on her, watch for odd behavior...
