Myriad of Questions about New Kitten...

They'll never be old enough to "roam at will" and be safe. Outside is dangerous even in the country. I live in the country and some of the dangers in my area include owls, coyotes, coy-dogs, fox, fisher cats, hawks, and bobcats. Hunting season is just starting so add guns as another danger. You...

Help me, I'm a confused mommy

When I first brought Tiri home, she had a lot of problems with diarrhea. It took me nearly 2 months to figure out the right combination of food for her. For dry, I give her a mix of Nutro Natural Choice and Royal Canin. For moist, she gets Felidae and Wellness. Fancy Feast is kitty junk food...

    Sick Kitten, please help

I've read a lot of articles which warn that clumping litters are unsafe for kittens. I've been using Swheat Scoop with Tiri and the fosters and so far no one is having any problems.

    New Breeder

I'm a retired breeder these days . Ideally, I think you should wait until your female is 18 months or so before you breed her. This will give her time to finish growing. I would limit her to one litter per year. I say one litter because she will carry the kittens for 8 weeks or so and then be...

Myriad of Questions about New Kitten...

I live in the country and use a harness when taking Tiri outside. The country can be as dangerous to a cat - in place of cars and people, we have owls, coyotes, coy-dogs, foxes, and bobcats. Any of these find a cat to be a tasty treat.

So he was neutered and ...

You should let it be. If he is excessively licking the site, you may want to check with your vet to make sure there are no problems.

    China via Kitty Litter....Help!

Have you tried a large covered litterbox? Tiri is a digger and the large covered box took care of the worst of the litter ending up all over the floor.

    cat losing weight

Take him to the vet ASAP. This might be the first indicator of kidney failure. I lost my 9 year old cat to kidney failure because I did not recognize the signs soon enough.

    Friskies kitten food

I don't feed Friskies anymore. I found it's more cost effective to go over to Petco and get Tiri foods like Royal Canin & Nutro. Since these foods have less filler and more of what cats need in their diet, Tiri eats less, her coat looks better, and most importantly the litterbox does not stink...

    How much to feed kittens?

For a kitten, I would give 1/2 can wet in the morning and the other 1/2 at night. Dry food should be left out all the time. Kittens have small tummies and generally only eat a little bit at a time.

    Kitten fell off balcony

Did the second vet find any other injuries besides the broken leg? As far as the constipation, where she is a young kitten, try wiping her rear end with a warm, moist paper towel. This might stimulate her to go. You can also try a little bit of pumpkin mixed with her food.

    Kitty Crates

It's funny. The foster kittens love the Alpine Scratcher. Tiri has no interest in the cardboard but she loves to go after the dangling mouse inside it . Definitely, good advice to get a variety of scratchers & the all important digital camera to catch everything. A floor to ceiling cat tree is...

    Kitty Crates

I'm glad I went the more expensive one. Tiri seems to like it and I can secure it in the car. I also like being able to unzip just the corner and give her a scritch while we're traveling. I do have a large hard plastic crate that I use as "recovery room" but Tiri didn't want to be there after...

    Kitty Crates

This is the one I got: http://www.petco.com/product_info.as...=1&dept_id=623 Tiri is 10.6 lbs and has plenty of room to move around in it. The bottom is rigid so it doesn't collapse on her. It has both a top opening and side opening. The largest cat I've put in it so far was 15 lbs and she...
