    FIV Kitten in Montana

I am sure this kitten was surrendered due to counseling by the Vet. I do cat/kitten rescue and offered to take him until we found him a home. A dear friend of mine has FELV positive cats and she offered as well. We were both told no as he must either go to an FIV positive home or a single pet...

    What could it have been?

    Scratches/Scabs near ears (pics)

I would suggest contacting your Vet as soon as possible as it appears either ear mites or ringworm. If either they can get the medication to treat them. If both go untreated it will continue to get worse and be miserable for your kitty. Good Luck and let us know! Les

    FeLV + FIV quick question

As long both have been tested and are negative your kitty is at no risk. The only problem is if you let them outside and then of course it's a risk for any cat allowed to roam. Congratulations on your new friends! Les

    Kidney Stones

I rescued a Scottish Fold from under a house 1 day before Columbus Day. I took him into my Vet the very next day and they felt "Scottie alias Gus"had a kidney infection. We started Clavimox while I searched for the owner. After 10 days, I was back at my Vet's office rechecking the lab work. My...

    Transfer Factor

I have mentioned on numerous postings about my cat rescue. Often I am at our local animal shelter and have only those cats/kittens very sick transfered to my Vet for medical help. Once well (usually 3-4 weeks) they come to my house (foster) and we look for that special family for each cat...

I reside in Great Falls, Montana and do cat rescue. This year we have had a larger number of FIP kittens than normal. You are correct regarding the corona virus. Most kittens are exposed but some can not sluff off the virus and it mutates into FIP. Unfortunately, their is nothing that can be...

    Feline Asthma

One of my cats, approximately 1 1/2 years old, one day was coughing as though he had a hair ball. Next thing I knew I could liberally see him breathing from the back. I contacted our Vet and she thought it could be upper respiratory condition. Since I do cat rescue, I am very familiar with an...

I do cat rescue in the state of Montana. This has been a horrible year for FIP in our area. I have been hit with it 3 times and unfortunately there is no good outcome with FIP. My Vet has explained to me how the corona virus works. Most kittens are exposed to the corona's virus. Most will...

Mental health issue - too many cats (Long post)

I do cat rescue in Montana. I can completely understand where you are coming from in reference to your household growing. I have placed animals many different ways however, I have found a couple of ways that seem to work. Many of my 4 legged "Kids" came from our local "kill" shelter as they...

    Kittens eating litter

Has anyone heard of 4-5 week old kittens eating litter? A foster mom is having a problem with 3 of the 4 kittens wanting to eat the litter rather than use the litter box for what it was intended. Momma has been feeding the kittens and they watch her but we are confused as to why. Any ideas? Les
