I emailed them and they said that if you used a cook meat and used their liver powder (they have this if you can't find a liver source of your own) it will have less taurine, but still plenty. They said it will still have significantly more taurine than NRC recommendations for cats.
This is a great thing that we recently started on in replacement of our wet food since I don't really trust any of the companies right now (especially after finding out Natura, Wellness and Nature's Variety use Menu pet foods)....
Worth a try!

Long time since I posted, so I dunno if this has been brought up.
Wellness now has a new grain-free formula called "CORE." Looks pretty good to me!

They also re-formulated all of their cat foods to be better for the UT and taste better...
I think EVO, Felidae and Solid Gold have "big" kibbles actually (although Tigger doesn't mind). The smallest kibbles I've ever seen (and are teenie-tiny) are Timberwolf Organics Serengetti and Eukanuba.
I use Fresh Step. I know some hate it but it is AMAZING for odor control! I have tried Arm & hammer and Tidy Cat but neither compared to Fresh Step. I think I may try the new Fresh Step multi-cat next time.
I have had the same issue you did. Tigger is 7 months old and I now have him on a 50/50 mixture of Chicken Soup adult light dry and Solid Gold Katz-N-flocken dry (which is an all life stages food) free choice. He has actually trimmed down a bit and certainly hasn't lost any energy
Yeah, I would rather buy the meow mix selects because they are "complete" even though I feed them as a treat, but the sheba one's seem really good for a "special treat." It looked like something I would eat! lol
So I was at Petsmart today getting some of the market select meow mix tubs (Tigger loves them as a once-in-awhile treat) and I saw these new "Sheba premium cuts" which were comparable. They aren't made for a diet as they are just fish, etc mixed, but they are amazing looking! I gave one to...
Yeah I thought the same thing! The one's I bought had a greyish color and honestly didn't look that appetizing...however, the ones on the site look very meaty and red....hmmm....freezer burn maybe?
Man, I have a whole bag of medallions in my freezer b/c neither my dog or cat will eat them...any suggestions on how to get a cat to eat the raw? I tried cooking it and that still didn't work
Right now Tigger is getting a mixture of Chicken Soup Light and Solid Gold Katz-N-Flocken dry free choice. I had to cut out wet food as it made him gain a lot of weight. I cannot feed him scheduled meals or an all-wet diet because he actually gets food aggressive and begins tearing up things...
