Those of you that have replied to my numerous posts already know what my kitten has been through, so I won't repeat it, LOL.
My vet suggested to put Lucy on a low residue diet to see if it will help with her soft stools/diarrhea. My question is, since I have to change her diet now (I will mix...
Thanks for the update. Glad to hear she is doing well. Keep an eye on her stools, and take notice if you see anymore blood. Sometimes blood can be a sign of giardia, and a regular wormer may not get rid of it.
Lucy eats like a piggy, so no problems there. At her checkup her temp was actaully low, most likely because right before we walked out the door she managed to step in her poo, had it all over her tail, feet, inside of her leg etc...and so I had to bathe her before we left. I wrapped her in a...
Check out the previous post from FamilyTimeRags. There is a link to an article about the herpesvirus, and towards the bottom (I think) of the article it mentions a test where the vet swabs the throat, and has it sent out to test. Doesn't mention cost though. Also there is a link on that page...
Lucy does have discharge coming from both her eyes. When it dries, it is a brown crust (not the red that I read about) that is not only in the coners of her eyes, but also where a woman would put on eyeliner, but it's smaller crusted dots in those areas. She just does not have the "clouding"...
Thank you so much for all the information. Thankfully she is my only kitten so there is no risk to other kitties, I just wanted to get info, to see if her symptoms sounded like she did have the virus. She has not had cloudy eyes at all, just the discharge. Do all kittens/cats that have the...
I agree with the other posters, she needs to be taken to a vet. If you have told the vet what is going on, and they have put you off, then I would change vets. At the very least, they should allow you to bring in a stool sample, which at my vet clinic does not require an appointment, and do a...
Hi Minxie--
Ok, I get it, I thought he was doing fecals every time. I hope he isn't charging for the stool check, is he? I read your other thread about vaccines (I'd also go with the cheaper ones, but another poster had a good point about not giving them the vaccines if they are still ill)...
Oh my, I wonder who got the message I sent to you, LOL.
I would not give the panacur before you are done with the metronidazole. There would be no need for it if the metronidazole works, and would be very hard on the tummy. Let the vet know you have it, so if he decides to go with the panacur...
Thank you so much for your reply. If you don't mind my asking, did Frankie have cloudy eyes at all, or just discharge? What color is the discharge in his eyes? Since we got Lucy, she has been sick with a virus/bacterial infection, and giardia. She still has the discharge from her eyes, but...
I'm wondering if the vaccine for herpesvirus stops the virus from infecting a cat/kitten? My kitten "supposedly" had the vaccine, and I can't say for sure she has the virus, but she has been sneezing (already did almost a month of antibiotics) and has had brown discharge from her eyes, that...
My little girl's name is Lucy (Lucille BALD, ha-ha) and yes, she is like your kitties. I should have named her Speedy, lol. Course now that she has to be crated, she can't get very far. Before we crated her though, she ran if she saw me come near her. I'm the one that has to give her all the...
I only have 1 more day on the panacur, so wish us luck. It's hard to say if it's working because her stools are still soft-diarrhea, but that could be from all the meds she has had to take. She been on the metronidazole, amoxicillin for almost a month, and now the panacur, so her poor tummy...
My kitten is currently taking a 7 day dose of panacur for giardia. We tried the 5 days of metronidazole, but it didn't rid her of the parasite. It can be hard to get rid of, not to mention frustrating. The metronidazole could be causing the soft stools. I know with my kitten, she had soft...
I gave her the entire bottle, she just ended them Saturday, and she was on them since April 18th. Since there is no nasal discharge I'm hoping the infection is gone, and the sneezing is just part of the virus that she is still fighting off. If I see her developing symptoms of an infection, or...
Thank you for your reply. That makes alot of sense. Hopefully if the infection is cleared, she will fight off the virus fully, very soon. Poor girl has had alot to deal with.
Now that I think about it, I remember the vet saying something like this. I had to take my little boy (3 yrs old)...
Ok, so she must have had some type of infection then, because the antibiotics helped with the gooey eyes, and cut down on the sneezing, and no more nasal discharge that I can see. Hard to say if the sneezing is still the infection or not, as she had these symptoms the day I got her. Thank you...
My kitten went on antibiotics for a virus she has, on April 18th. She just finished the antibiotics on Saturday, but is still sneezing. I will be asking the vet, but I'm wondering, how many of you have dealt with your kittens/cats, having a virus, and did you have to keep them on the...
