    Anyone do Yoga?

Yoga is great! Having done yoga in a class and with a tape, I would start with a class. It's easier with someone there to help you with your form and adjust you into the right postures. I'd suggest checking out the studio and seeing if you like the people who will be teaching. The yoga...

    administering Methimazole--a question

Good deal, glad it was easy! Re the transdermal Methimazole, my vet sent me to a "natural pharmacy", and I think they compound it on site. It's got a shorter shelf life than the pills, is the only thing. Linda C.

    administering Methimazole--a question

I have the methimazole ointment formulation for one of my cats. It's wonderful if they don't respond well to pilling (he was hiding from us all the time). I put on a latex glove and squeeze 0.1 ml onto my fingertip, then swipe the ointment into the upper part of his ear, so that it mostly...

Multi-Cat Diet Question - looking for advice

We have two 13 year old cats (Rufus and Minnie) and we just got (last week) two younger cats: Mister Guy, approximate age 2 years (porch stray) and Mercedes, age 6 months. Rufus is hyperthyroid (on medication -- ear ointment) and has slightly dicey kidneys. All the rest are in good health...

    switching food again...

Ayep, the IAMS indoor mature has 14% fat, similar to the numbers quoted above, and that seemed too low for our cats. They are doing much better on the RC 28, which is 23% fat. As always, YMMV. Linda C.

    switching food again...

If you have an underweight cat, watch the indoor-only foods, which tend to be lower fat. We've got one cat that could stand to bulk up a little and one who could lose some, both indoor cats. I tried the IAMS mature indoor catfood (both are 13 years old) and found that their coats got dull and...

    Kitten Naming "contest"

The picture of the first cat that needs a name is here: http://www.evanmorris.com/weblog/2005/12/post_26.html, and for other kitten photos you can scroll down or choose the "cats" section of the blog. I think your own naming contest would be a great idea! Lots of inspired folks on these...

    Kitten Naming "contest"

Evan Morris, who writes a neat column on word origins (The Word Detective: http://www.word-detective.com/index.html ) also has a blog at http://www.evanmorris.com/weblog/ and has posted in the blog looking for names for three of the five kittens that they rescued this fall. The prize is "the...

    Do you hiss or growl?

I hiss at my cats when I'm seriously displeased at them. They stop what they're doing and usually take off, so it conveys the message I'm trying to send! Linda C.

    Cats and baths, my baths!!

When Jacquelline was young, she used to run into the bathroom, leap into the (empty) tub, slide around and leap out again. It was a great game! I thought "this is fraught," and sure enough, one day I was standing in the tub drying off, with the water maybe 6-8 inches deep, and in she races. I...

Can a cat have an udder?

That's not an udder, that's their dust ruffle! (It's to keep their back paws warm when they sit down. ) We've had a couple of cats with that.. floppy tummy area effect. Very funny to watch at a run. I was very interested to read the explanation vis the stitches. Linda C.

    The Tribute To LOLA Thread

I'm so sorry for you. Even when we know it's a mercy, it is so hard to say goodbye. May she go gently on to the place where there is no more suffering but only joy. Linda C.

    Kitty vs. Xmas Tree

Not sure that my solution will be helpful to anyone, but we get a fresh cut tree every year and have never had any trouble with the cats vs. the tree. Why? I adore blue spruces and that's what we get, and they are the meanest, sharpest, prickliest trees known to man. It takes a good pair of...

    Jacquelline, my princess

Yesterday, now, we had to put Jacqueline to sleep. She had a tumor in her forehead that gradually ate up all of her life. She was a wonderful cat, my little chocolate brown princess, with the softest coat I've ever petted. We were able to keep her happy if not healthy for almost eighteen years...
