Thanks all. I got a good perspective from my GF who was shocked
at my requirements and told me "i'd have said no way!"
When I explained the reasoning and told her she was naive
that the following things happen all the time:
adopters dumping cats out, rather than returning to the rescue
people...
I feed 17 TNR'd (almost all of them are done!) ferals at my colony. Every night - dry n wet without fail excepting during storms in winter - then I leave
food in the shelters and stock up for them...
I also go every other night to 4 to 6 drains and outdoor locations
where I leave food for the...
Jimmylegs - I just wondered that too. I wrote back and told her
that she had to understand he was abused, and that I was
doing exactly what the rescues and shelters do vis a vis, vet
checks, home visit, fee, contract, ID (you have to show it at
the shelters you know), and in some cases the...
So - I advertised Harley and got a nibble off the Siamlist.
The lady seemed fine. I told her that we had to have
a contract, a 100.00 adoption fee, home visit to check out
her 2 older cats, vet check and references from the
people she got her 2 exisiting 15 yr old Siamese's from.
Driver's...
Harley's pics are on the blog:

He is so sweet! I got a nibble from someone who saw
him on the SiamList - I hope she is not some flakey person,
but is seriously interested in my boy.
Please vibes? She hasn't emailed me back - I told her
there...
CarolPetunia AMAZINGLY GOOD IDEA!
I really can get behind this.
No. Va, willing to foster kittens 5 to 12 wks.
someone else would have to take over to place
at that point, that's the huge problem that i have.
I am overwhelmed with caring for cats, so I've no
time for placing, not to mention...
Harley's got a blog! NO pics posted yet, but I will. Snorkel/Charlie will also be posted there...
the blog name is:
http://findingahomeforharleycharlie.blogspot.com/
Its the story of my ferals and how I came to "find" Harley.
I'm also working on Snorkel/Charlie's story....
Both abandoned...
A very wonderful woman from Siamese Rescue (who can't sponsor Harley cause he's FIV+) came and gave Harley a BATH ,,,, eye popping to see!!
Harley was good, and now is snowy white n creamy blond and blue
eyed and fresh and clean!
He got his stiches out and this wonderful woman helped me
get...
All, I know we are very scattered on this site, but I'm going to
cross post this for my cat rescue friend Sharon. Sharon's a great
person. She's done a whole feral site! But, one mama managed
to have babies before she got. She has about 4 or so 7 wk olds.
She can't foster, due to her...
Moko: Thanks. I researched it a bit, and he's going to the vet
on saturday am, so I am going to ask him then. Buy some
shampoo from them too. I will meantime try a chorohexidine (sp?)
surgical pre scrub they say you can use, just on his tail. See how
he does with a bath, LOL. Bet you we...
So, Harley is getting better now. Off his pain meds, not doped up, the teeth obviously aren't hurting him as much as before. Now unfortunately, he wants to go OUT! No, no NO Harley! No more out for Harley. He obviously
didn't do well before when get got out....or was let out.
So, he has to...
God almighty what people will do to animals....
or not do for them I should say.
I just took in a flame pt male siamese from
a feral colony posted about him a few days ago...
3 broken and/or missing teeth, bad dental disease,
and prob. had things thrown at him. Poor baby
he cannot believe...
Thanks all ... I'm not to proud to take ANY help
finding a GOOD home. Some people do terrible things.
His name may have been "Harlie" "Arlie" or Marley.
He responds SUPER well to "Harley".
He is doing okay, though there's puss in the
ear canal from his jaw/tooth surgery I guess.
He does...
Yes, he does LOL. Nova has stronger color, but
less "pointing" than Harley. (I renamed
him from his former feral name of Snowball.)
Harley is more wheat colored and v. pale,
but has quite a dusting of this color contrasting
with his creamy white coat.
He seems to like the name Harley, LOL...
Okay, all. IN case the owner is still looking (doubtful,
but you never do know).
I found a Siamese Male Flame Pt. cat in a feral colony
in Leesburg VA.
Long short, took over care of the colony in Feb. 09
this cat was seen April 08 and trapped Dec 08
for neutering.
There are many trucks...
I find that Kirkland (Costco's dry brand) dry food
is a relatively good food. Also, I use Wilderness
Blue Buffalo dry for my IBD cat.
He cannot have
grains, and the Wilderness is 1) high protein and 2)
no grain. It is relatively affordable at 10 dollars for
2.5 lbs dry bag and 17 for a 6...
Have you looked into the Blue Buffalo? They have a high protein no grain diet = potato for starches plus lots of high quliaty proteins. I have my IBD kitty on it, he is wheat, corn and soy intolerant and cannot eat wet with guar gum or wheat gluten in it either....
Blue's Wilderness is about...
No, only the GUT parasites, such as: roundworm, pin worm, tapeworm, hook worm and whipworm. Not for other types of parasistes ....
Still have to do the heartworm meds for dogs. Cats don't get bothered as much by heartworms, but you can use Revolution topical stuff to help with heartworm in...
http://www.ghorganics.com/
go here for details on what to dose at - its DAILY for 30 days in the food -
http://www.wolfcreekranch.net/
Both offer FOOD GRADE ONLY ..... call them and ask what they recommend.
The dosages are given on the Wolf Creek Ranch webpage for cats, dogs, and humans for...
Hi! I'm about to start my own cats on it for de worming - as
I can't get my semi ferals to vets. There are lots of studies
showing that diatomachous earth (sp!) that is FOOD GRADE,
ONLY is not harmful to the human or animal but actually does
reduce to eliminate worms and parasites...
