    unhappy cat?

my baby has been losing fur lately... over her eyes, behind her ears and around her muzzle. last week i took her to the vet for a general health checkup, and he said it could be allergies, scabies or fleas. i only have one cat- and she almost never goes outside- and our living conditions haven't...

    Balding ears?

ah, she's still a kitten. approximately 9 months, i'd say (she was a stray, and her initial vet checkup labled her about 6 weeks old at the time).

    Balding ears?

Sorry to make two threads in a day, but I just realized, my cat's ears are balding. Or what seems like balding. I'm away at college the whole week, and only on weekends I'm home, so I didn't notice sooner, I guess. She's a domestic short-hair, so the back of her ears have always been very short...

    Pain meds for spaying

I'm sure they probably have the stuff for pain meds- after all, they probably do even more major surgery at the shelter. They're the biggest one around here. If it costs me a bit extra to ask for a pain shot or meds, I wouldn't mind paying. We'll see. I'm very prepared for my cat to lay in her...

    Pain meds for spaying

I didn't know people were spayed! LOL well, I did call back and the person who answered the phone replied that all the cat got was the anesthesia for the surgery. I guess I'm just a bit more worried than most, because my cat is a drama queen The last time she had some blood drawn for testing...

    Pain meds for spaying

I've scheduled my baby to be spayed on june 23rd. It's going to be at our local humane shelter, because they do it for 50 dollars and my mom's not willing to pay the 180-350 that the veterinary hospitals around here offer. I asked them about the process; they told me that the cat shouldn't drink...

    Splitting claws?

Everyone knows what hangnails are like, right? My cat's sort of having a problem with her claws that's like having hangnails. I think maybe I trimmed her claws a bit uncleanly a while ago and her clawtips haven't grown back properly. In any case, two of her left-paw claws have been splitting...

    In heat? :S

She's about the right age, Pouncer that is. Going on 7 months, and she just started on Monday- roughly the first day of spring. She's right on time. :P She's been going around the house meowing, chirping, purring and rolling excessively around on the carpet. She's being VERY vocal, which is...

    Springtime crazies!!?

Pouncer's going nuts too. Except she's going for the angle of "please, oh please, let me go outside" with the high-pitched questioning meows and yowls. She keeps jumping at our backdoor screen and coming back to meow at me as if to say, "Open the door, let me go outside!" But she makes her meows...

    Top dry food brands

oooh, sorry to intrude in on the original poster's thread, but since everyone seems to posing questions about their dry food: how is eukanuba on the kibble list? the pet store we have carries royal canin, but both mom and i aren't willing to pay the price (12.99 for a 3.5 lb bag!), so we went...

"ew! this food is poo!" - says Pouncer

oooh! thanks to both of you for that useful tidbit. i never knew cats were somewhat like dogs in that "burying food" thing. i hope the case really IS that she likes the food that much, and she's just not currently hungry (otherwise, seriously, what would i do with this bag of kibble? lol). i've...

"ew! this food is poo!" - says Pouncer

Yesterday my mom and I went out and bought a 6.5 lb. bag of Eukanuba kitten kibble for Pouncer. She's been eating wet food these first 6 months of her life, and I decided it was time she got kibble into her diet. We also wanted to start her on a routine where she could eat wet food for...

    Really Sharp Claws

Going to echo everyone else with the "declawing is bad!" I clip the nails of my kitten. I go home two days out of the week, and i just trim her front paws (i don't even do the back- they're pretty blunt) when she's in my lap all cozy and drowsy. The best time to do it is when they're...

Signs of a happy, contented cat

I'm not sure where to suggest this... but I would love to see a sticky in this forum with a list of signs of a happy, contented cat. My cat seems to be content with her life, but sometimes I'm not so sure. What signs should I be looking for?

Does your cat let you touch their - paws, tail, belly? Do they mind being held...

Pouncer is okay with anywhere but her back feet. :P She's not a big fan of people touching the pads of her back feet for some reason- if we catch a back foot and hold it, she'll violently kick and try to pull it away. Sometimes she's not okay with us holding the end of her tail, too. :P

Has anyone else seen a cat apologize?

haha, Pouncer knows how to apologize too- which is basically sucking up to us. :P When she's knocked over a vase or gone through the trashcan (she has a bad habit of that, even though we try to stop it) and we find the mess, she immediately tries to climb into our laps and rub against our faces...

    lazy kitty?

a few weeks ago i noticed that my kitten has taken up the habit of idly lying around the house. it used to be that she'd get up and run around all over the place, especially when we engage in a game like tag- but i notice now that when i'm "it" she spontaneously rolls over onto her side and back...
