My cats (Barney and Fred) were treated with Advantage for the first time on Saturday (by the vet during their annual exam).
Last night (Sunday evening), I noticed Barney was having some difficulty with one eye. He was squinting, scratching at it, it seemed watery, and the third eyelid was...
My Fred does the same thing! Usually it's pantyhose, undies, socks, toys, the tie for my robe, etc., etc. He seems to love to play with my clothes. For some reason, anything he wants to play with needs to be dunked and then played with some more. Worst part is when he brings one of his...
I agree, he needs to get to the vet.
Those *#!*@#!! OTC flea meds should be taken off the market! I've never used them as my kitties are indoors only and don't have fleas. However, just yesterday, a friend called me because her cat was having a severe reaction to those Hartz flea drops. She...
I called my vet (Duh! ... don't know why I didn't think of that before). FYI, she suggested I use ant baits (she mentioned Black Flag). From what I gather, they're like little roach motels except the ants enter and feed and then carry the stuff back to the nest, thus killing the whole ant...
Does anyone have a suggestion regarding how to get rid of ants without harming my kitties? Are there any pet-friendly sprays on the market?
The ants are in my laundry room (where there are no windows) and have now migrated to the hall. I guess I could confine my cats to one of the bedrooms if...
Unfortunately, I have a problem with cat dander allergies too (and I have two kitties!). I would never give my kitties up and tried everything.
I, of course, keep everything as clean as possible -- vaccum often, wash bedding often (since they sleep with me), dust, etc.
I have 3 ionic breeze...
Hi there. Thought this was cute.
I don't know if I pasted this link correctly (if not you can copy and paste). Essentially, an elderly widow died, leaving her house and a trust fund to Tinker, the stray cat.

Ha ha. Now I know.
Fred not only dunks his toys in the water bowl, he retrieves them and brings them to me so we can play fetch with the sopping wet toys. Especially nice when he brings them to me in bed (sarcasm)!
I've never tried to walk my kitties on a leash. I don't think they would accept a leash or harness. You might try putting one on them inside a few times first and see how that goes.
I did see this product and am considering purchasing one (although my neighbors may think I'm a nutcase). Not...
My kitties don't like the car ride to the vet, but once they get there, they're pretty good (but a little scared).
My last cat (who passed away a couple of years ago) had a major problem going to the vet. It got so bad, the vet said we would have to sedate her too. I didn't want to do that...
Because of this thread, I also bought a ZoomGroom yesterday. Even though I always brush my kitties every day, the ZoomGroom removed a LOT more fur (don't try this with your good work clothes on!). The ZoomGroom didn't pick up all the fur though, so I followed with a slicker brush just to pick...
OK .. so it was a dumb question! (I thought maybe it was some weird cat-like herding instinct or something, i.e., trying to keep me from moving about).
My other kitty is an attention hog too. I'm the only human there, so giving each my complete, undivided attention can difficult. My lap...
Well, that's what I thought too. However, if I stop what I'm doing and play with him, pet him, or whatever, after a little while when it seems he's had enough (and he goes on his merry cat-way), I try to resume my activity. As soon as I get up and start walking again, he starts all over with...
I'm sure he's not really trying to trip me, but whenever I walk anywhere in my home, Fred seems to need to cross my path, almost as if he is trying to trip me. It's as if he's trying to rub my leg (like cats do), but he gets very insistent on trying to do this when I'm walking anywhere. I have...
I brush my cats every morning, but only because they insist. Whenever I pick up my brush to blow-dry my hair, Barney jumps up on the sink, puts his paws on my chest, and meows until I brush him. I just keep his brush in the bathroom now. Once Fred sees me brushing his brother, he jumps up on...
Thanks. Maybe I'll try the separate bowl for the dry food and feed them only 1/2 a pouch. At least I won't have to throw all that dry food out.
Ingredients for the Pouch (Chicken & Liver flavor) are as follows:
Chicken Broth, Chicken, Chicken Liver, Wheat Gluten, Beet Pulp, Dried Egg...
I tried a bunch a different brands before. The one they liked the best was Nutro Natural. They ate it fine when I used to mix it with the canned food. However, they didn't like the canned food when it was cold, so I switched to the pouches. Since switching, they no longer seem to like dry...
I recently started feeding my kitties Nutro Natural in the pouch (chunks w/gravy). They absolutely love it. However, I usually mix it with dry Nutro Natural (I've always fed them dry food with a little wet mixed in).
Well, I'm getting tired of throwing away all the dry food. They tend to eat...
Sorry, but I don't think cats understand "Punishment". How can you punish a cat for being cat-like? I think the only thing you can do is to try to modify their behavior (i.e., make them want to stop doing whatever it is you don't want them to do).
