Since I moved out, to go to college, Riley cat has been picking on the dog more than usual. They typically play-fight once a day; but since I've left, my parents have noticed (to their annoyance) that Riley and the dog have been going at it several times a day. Has anyone else experienced this...
Riley loves Christmas. There are bulbs to shatter, tinsel to tangle, and pine cones to bat around. It's the most wonderful time of the year, neh? But, I am wondering about that Christmas flower, pointsettia. I thought I heard once that it's poisonous to cats. Is this true? Should I get rid of...
Riley is a year and a half old.
Whenever there was a spider in my room, I'd show it to Riley and he'd toy with it and then eat it. He was so handy.
But lately, he hasn't been eradicating insects for us. Yesterday I showed him a big, juicy spider and he just purred and watched it, letting it...
Riley will persistently lick plastic bags - like Wal Mart sacks, or sandwich baggies. I dunno why. Does anyone else's cat do this? Is it just a Riley quirk?
My dog pouts and whines and has pent-up energy if I don't walk her. I was wondering, how come cats don't need exercise? They just lay around. Don't they need to, I dunno, exercise their muscles or get their blood flowing or diffuse energy, like most mammals?
And street cats are always roosting...
I heard that male cats are always two colors, and female cats are always multiple colors. Is this true?
It held for my two kittens; Riley boy is grey and white, Kitty girl was a blend of browns, greys, and black.
On my table is a nice Christmas arrangement with potpourri and glass bulbs. Riley delights in swiping the bulbs off the table and watching them shatter on the tile floor. Usually he does it when he is wound up in the early hours, so I can't catch him.
But today, he did it right in front of me...
Right now Riley is still a kitten, but he is almost full-grown. I am just wondering whether a cat's personality will change with age. He is very affectionate and playful right now, but is that just because he is a baby? I hope he stays like this forever!
Yuck! Yesterday, as I was making my bed, I noticed little black particles. I thought it was just remains of eraser, because I do my homework in bed, and you know how when you use an eraser it makes those little bits that you brush away? That is sort of what this looked like. Anyway, I brushed...
I wanted to get a cat tree for Riley, but when I saw one at a pet store, it cost about $200! I mean, I could probably make one out of cardboard and carpet for like, $20.
Why are cat trees so pricey? Does anyone know where I can get one cheap?
Early in the morning, Riley's nose is almost white, it is so pale, but throughout the day it gets pinker until it's his normal color. How come his nose changes color?
When Riley was a little kitten, it was funny to watch him play with Maggie, our dog; Maggie would nudge and Riley would paw back. Maggie would never bite him, and Riley never scratched or hissed, so it was fine.
But now, Riley is older and he has been using his claws. He hasn't injured Maggie...
We ran out of cat food this morning, and Riley was meowing insistently. We gave him canned food, which we seldom give him because it smells, but he has eaten it before, so we dished up a bowl of it for him, and decided we would buy him more of his good food later that day. But a few minutes...
When dogs wag their tails, it means they are happy. When cats wag their tails, they are happy, waiting, hungry, curious, about to pounce, playing, thinking, or watching. !!
It seems that cats wag their tail for so many different reasons - how can you tell what they are saying?
Riley loves to fetch! He will only do it for pens or spoons or similarly-shaped objects. He watches the movement of a pen when I am writing with it, and if I throw it across the room, he runs to it and picks it up in his mouth and brings it to me, setting it down. Do other cats fetch? I didn't...
Kitty has leukemia, so we are not surpised that she has medical problelms, but the past few days she has been going elsewhere apart from in the litter-box. She relieves herself on rugs in the bathroom or kitchen, or in a bedroom. Can she just not hold it long enough to make it downstairs to the...
My Kitty has been diagnosed with leukemia, so we are not surprised that she has medical problems, but lately the sides of her body have been swelling, as if she were gaining weight, but we know it's not from her diet. She hasn't been meowing, so we don't think she's in pain. Does anyone know...
I set Kitty outside on the porch yesterday, which is the first time she's been outside unfettered, and all she did was lick the concrete ground. There is nothing unusual on the concrete. She licked the sidewalk, too. How come? Is there something in concrete that cats like to taste?
My Kitty shakes her paw, you know how cats do when their paws are wet, only she does it randomly, when there is nothing on her paw. Does anyone know why?
Litter boxes are so stinky. Can I let my kittens outside to go to the bathroom? One of them loves it outside and I am afraid he would become an outdoor cat if I let him out. Is it possible to let them out only for going to the bathroom, but keep them inside all the rest of the time? Does anyone...
