    bit by kitten

i have been trying to catch the rest of a litter of kittens and i was luring them today and did a stupid thing.. tried to grab one. the one i caught was pretty tame, so i was not expecting its sib to react like she did. in any case she bit me and broke the skin. so now i am wondering.... do i...

problem with one of my foster kittens

she is probably around 7 weeks. I have been unable to catch her three sibs, wooing them with chicken the past few days. She was pretty easy to catch.. maybe that was because she was feeling under the weather. we have had to contain her in a bathroom as she is getting diarrhea all over... i feel...

problem with one of my foster kittens

I have a foster kitten from the feral colony in our neighborhood. She is a tad younger than the other kittens i am fostering, but she seemed to be doing quite well (we have had her for almost 2 weeks). All the kittens were tested for fe-luk etc and tested negative, had her first round of...

Stewie is now coming out of "his" room and bumping me for attention. He and Tibers (the tabby in the pic) are great friends and spend alot of time together. I guess we have new member of the family!

what are the chances of socializing?

Stewie is doing great today he took his first foray out into the house and went into our other guest room. he is camped out under the bed, looking very comfortable. though he does not always come out when i am alone, when he does come out, he is getting very comfortable with being pet, and...

what are the chances of socializing?

what is funny is that i thought using tibers would be a horrible idea because he is a boy and he was born in the house, so i thought he would have poor social skills. but he is great, lets stewie come to him, stays very calm and relaxed, and also seems happy just to exist in the room with him...

what are the chances of socializing?

thank you for all the advice. despite the poor timing (holidays and all) we are making progress with the feral kitty i am calling "stewie". I wish i could say it was all my effort, but it is primarily because he LOVES my adult male cat tibers, and comes out purring whenever we come into the...

what are the chances of socializing?

While trying to re-catch one of our cats, we accidently caught one of the feral cats from the neighborhood. I thought it was a girl, and I brought "her" in to get spayed before releasing her. Turns out she is a he, and quite young (under 8 months). We kept him for 10 days in a large dog crate...

    how to recapture

well no luck again last night. I have not been putting out kibble in the spot, because i want her hungry enough to want to enter the trap, but now three nights going and no luck I am feeling like i should give it a rest for a few days and just pop the kibble back out. Also, I am wondering if...

    how to recapture

We have had a feral cat living with us since she gave birth two years ago. She has been doing great in the house, loves the dogs, and has been letting us pet her. Unfortunately a week ago she got out in the middle of the night and then got scared and ran off when we tried to catch her. SHe...

    fleas and a semi-feral

    fleas and a semi-feral

I am hoping to not have to stress her out too much. we are making S-L-O-W progress with her trusting us, and i really do not want to make a grab attempt at her and put us back. I would probably have to trap her to get her to the vet. (again super stressful). It might be necessary to take...

    fleas and a semi-feral

Hi, I think i have a problem here and I am not sure how to solve it. I have noticed a few flea bites on me! I have three cats, one who is feral(MC) though she lives in the house. she likes us well enough, and she lets us gently touch her but there is no way i can get frontline on her. I have...

    scratching and some other issues

more boys.. hmmm.. that is an idea... haha. i think one of the "boys" in the house might not get on board for getting a fourth cat. The thing is i did not *choose* any of these cats, the two females both were strays that showed up in my backyard, and the male I kept from the litter the one...

    scratching and some other issues

yes.. all are neutered and spayed. interestingly the feral is not the one causing the problem.. she is quite submissive. the calico stalks her and jumps her when she is hanging it out. It all got a bit worse when my two older cats passed on (19+). I think the male was a calming influence on...

    scratching and some other issues

i can clip the son and the calico (with some protest)... but the female feral does not really allow us to touch her. we can pet her sometimes, but she sort of scoots away as soon as we make contact. she is a very social cat, and spends alot of her time with us, but she still has not managed to...

    scratching and some other issues

I have three cats.. all fairly young. A feral female, her son (who was born in the house, and very friendly) and another female (calico). For a while the two females have not gotten along, and though we did the long intro, as described by people on this board, they seem to continually get into...

    Thinking of Rehoming...

Hi there! the herding breeds can be quite a challenge sometime(I have two german shepheds). I am not sure from your post whether this is your first dog or puppy, but you really need some help. I am not aware of a collie specific board, but I am on a GSD board that has alot of advice for training...

    hypothyroidism and coat care

I will talk to the vet about it. The thing is, other than her coat, she is doing great. her weight is fine, and all that . so both my primary vet and the vet that did the rad iodine did not suggest thyroxin. She has not lost hair, it is just that it gets really oily. Thanks for the advice.

    hypothyroidism and coat care

Other than the coat problems she is fine, so the vets have not put us on supplementation. I have to admit to not being keed to do that (altough if it is the only option I will) because we did the rad iodine because she hated being pilled with the tapazole so much. I am feeding her senior nutro...
