We adopted a cat in July (Named Jigglypuff, Jiggy for short) and everything was going super well. Sassy doesn't necessarily like her, but tolerates her. Jiggy would stay away and it was great. However, for the last week or so, Jiggy has been staking Sassy, literally EVERYWHERE she goes. It's...
Hey guys,
My cat Sassy-Minoue, who is almost 16 has quite a few health issues (kidney failure grade 2/4, neurological issues, heart murmur grade 3 to 5/6 depending on the day it seems, breathing issues, high blood pressure, allergies which make her very itchy at time and I'm sure I'm missing...
Hi guys, so I have a question. My friend has trazadone (50mg) for her dog and would like to give some to her cats, as they're doing a 6h drive to move back here. Now, I know that trazadone is typically used on dogs and that we don't usually use it on cats (though there has been research on the...
It is definitely risky, but unfortunately, I don't have the money to do both an ultrasound and dental work. He's needed the work for many months now. They'll be doing everything in their power to make it as fast and as careful as possible. 2 vets will be on site, as well as 2 vet techs (usually...
Hey guys,
So just thought I'd give everyone an update. So his ProBNP came back completely normal. We still believe he has heart disease, but aren't exactly sure if it is DCM. The only way we would know, would be to do an ultrasound, but that is very expensive (roughly about 800$). So, what my...
Thank you for the message! I got him some more beef and also added omega 3 oil and will be adding taurine to his diet as well. I'm just waiting for the supplements to come in!
The reason he is on raw is because he doesn't do well on a grain based food. We constantly had skin issues and other health issue . I'm now looking into supplements to add to his food. I have 3 cats, 2 of which are on vet food, but it just doesn't work for my tripod kitty! :(
I do appreciate the...
Hi guys,
So my Fat Kitty Banjo went in for some test (blood test, urine test, cardiopet PNB and xrays) as he is scheduled to had an extensive dentistry on the 19th. Well, xrays show that he has DMC. His heart is pretty large and I'm scared. We've known since the beginning that he's had heart...
Hey guys, so my girl Sassy-Minoue is now on 1/4, twice daily as an appetite stimulant. Has anyone had luck with this? She can't take Mirtazapine because of her neurological issues. So my vet is starting her on this new med, at a very low dose, just to be sure it doesn't cause any issues. She is...
She was put on Cartrophen to help rebuild the bladder muscle (I can't think of the English words to translate what my vet told me). As for Metacam and buprenorphine, it's being used mostly for pain management. we moved the litter box to a different location and so far, it's been a winner. It's...
She was checked and doesn't have any joint/pain issues in the legs. She is also getting weekly injections of cartrophen for her bladder. I'm just kinda lost. We all love her, but family members don't want a cat that is going to pee all over the place.
Hey guys.
So I adopted a 6 year old cat with urinary issues. She had A LOT of what we thought were oxalate stones, but they're struvites crystals (which is good news in a way). So she was peeing out of the litter box when she had really bad crystals. Which was understandable as she was in...
GUYS!! Good news!! Jiggy went to the vets today and while I was there, my boss was like "what the heck, let's take an xray" so we did. She doesn't have oxalate stones, but struvites crystals instead! She went from having over 50 crystals to only a few! We even saw a few about to pass through the...
Also, from what I read with the article you provided, it seems that a wet food diet is best (once the stones are out). So is would think that raw food would be ok to give, since it is so high in moisture!
Thank you all for the info. I buy my raw from a lady who does it herself. Having a friend that worked with her, I know that her raw food is VERY calculated and balanced. Her blends are 80/10/10 or 90/10. She buys all her meat locally and prepares the raw at a certified human building or whatever...
I did talk to the owner of the raw food I buy from and she says that a low phosphorus/calcium raw diet would be best. So go with leaner meats, like lamb, rabbit, chicken etc. And to stay away from red meats like Beef. So I dunno. I trust her as her raw food is really high quality and VERY well...
Hey guys!
I have a quick question. So we adopted a special needs cat with some pretty bad urinary issues. She has roughly 50 oxalate stones in her bladder. She is currently in pain and pees outside the litter (though she is now on pain meds). My question is, when can I transition her to raw...
Another update on Jiggy!
She ate most of the Whole Earth mix and even ate some of her dry food! and guess what?! I HAVE A POO!! Yay!! She's peed and poop in the litter box, like a good girl! She still isn't eating the amount of calories she should be, but I guess eventually, that will come.
