    Fostering a semi-feral cat

At the advice of my vet, I'm returning Sammie to the Shelter. I just notified the shelter of this. I'm very upset that this process did not work for her but at this rate we're looking at a very sick cat if she doesn't eat soon. Nothing I have done has work and at least at the shelter she was...

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

I called the vet yesterday which is when they suggested the two cats meeting. I also called this morning with the update that she still isn't eating, so I'm just waiting for a call back from them.

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

No nothing overnight:(  At lunch I'm going to cook her a piece of Salmon and give her that. I've also decided at the suggestion of the vet that I'm going to introduce her to my cat.

Trying to make her like me is scaring the hell out of her..

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing. But to encourage her to eat I threw a few treats into her cave with her. It kinda of seemed mean because she wouldn't look at them and although I tossed them in softly they still hit her. I know that I couldn't use my hand to do this but I still feel...

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

I guess that I was thinking the more time I spend with her now the better, but she definitely seems scared to have me in the room. I'm very confused as to what to do with her. Do I leave her alone or be around her? What will make her more comfortable and make her want to eat? Again tasty treats...

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

Last night I put a dish inside her cat carrier with her with warmed up soft food. It is literally inches from her and she didn't eat it. I don't think feeding her with a spoon will make her eat, she's very afraid and will only look at me from time to time from the inside of her cat cave inside...

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

The vet knew she wasn't eating. She didn't offer any suggestions, but she did say that the stress of her new surroundings and the discomfort of the infection may have contributed to her not eating. So I'm hoping her feeling better=her eating.

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

The antibiotics she recieved is one time and works over a course of two weeks. Small success this morning, she used her litter box overnight! It doesn't appear that she has touched her food though:( This is a cat that is obviously not motivated by food in the least, so the only thing that I can...

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

In my eyes I've got only a few days to make this work b4 we're repeating history. Fingers crossed that it goes better this time now that she is feeling better.

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

I have Sammie back from the vet. She hasn't come out of her carrier but I'm spending time in the room with her now. I hope the sooner she gets used to me the sooner she'll eat. I've also positioned myself in the room so she has no choice but to notice me:) I hope she chooses to use the litter...

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

Sammie is at the vet now. She's there overnight and will have IV fluids and is being treated for a urinary infection. I spoke with the shelter and they agreed that she needed to be taken in and I offered to pay for a portion of the bill.I pick her up tomorrow.

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

They just sent me a message now that says I should make a decision today about keeping her. That she is probably dehydrated. But no mention of taking her to a vet. I can't tell you how devastating this is for me...

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

If I take her to the vet and she's cleared of being sick will this set her back to the beginning. Will she just not eat all over again if I bring her back to my house. This is what the shelter gave as a reason for not taking her to the vet.

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

The shelter insists that she's not sick. I spoke with them yesterday regarding taking her to the vet, but my options are to add a second cat or bring her back. I know that they did have her spayed when she first got to the shelter but I'm not sure of any other vet visits. I'm in the room with...

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

Scent swapping. Would I just rub my cat in a blanket and leave it in Sammie's room, and vice versa? Although technically I can't touch her,I can rub a blanket on her cave that she sleeps in. My shirt is already in the room, but I will probably leave a new worn one tonight.I feel like I've...

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

The shelter has also suggested introducing my cat to her. I know my cat is curious to get in the room and she hasn't reacted baby outside of the door, but everything I read tells me to wait.could this possibly be a good thing for them both so soon?

    Fostering a semi-feral cat

So this morning there doesn't seem to be much progress with Sammie She's moving around the room just fine from one hiding spot to the other. But she didn't touch the food I set out for her last night (all heated up). I did speak with the shelter last night who confirmed that she's been feeling...
