Our cats love agility! I vary the course each week by moving obstacles. We do therapy now in our basement and so there isn't room to expand. I use a clicker each time an obstacle is successfully completed and treats just for the tunnels.
The bladder crystals concern me. I use a lot of treats...
The places for cats to do agility are few and far between. I couldn't find any in the Midwest. Instead I had to train Rainy myself, based on what I knew about dog agility. A nearby no-kill shelter gave me permission to use their equipment. This past fall, I also set up equipment in our basement...
Cinder lives up to the tortie reputation of being a cat with attitude. But she also lives to do agility, wrestle, and sleep at our feet. Most recently, she's taken to playing in an agility tunnel, getting it to roll from one side of the basement to the other. She's a quirky girl!
Therapy cats need to have strong social skills. They should also be comfortable with a leash and it helps for them to know basic obedience commands such as "Come" and "Sit".
Yesterday my former feral cat decided to start sleeping in our bedroom. (This is not a photo of our bedroom but it's one of my favorite photos of Bootsie!) I love every new step she takes in trust!
My husband and I have started fostering again. Back in November, this kitten was less than two pounds and languishing in the shelter. She's now a healthy four pounds, full of fight, and being spayed tomorrow.
On the days when I take her on outings and the days I don't, I personally see a difference in the amount of mischief that our Rainy gets into. When I don't take Rainy anywhere for a few days, she is much more likely to squabble with her sisters. On the days when we walk or visit people, she tend...
I am so sorry. Hugs!
Sometimes there is no option. My third guinea pig woke up one morning unable to move her back legs. Our vet tried to save her; so did we. There just wasn't a solution and she was in pain.
Every time I lose a pet it hurts. They're our family and we hate to let them go.
Our oldest cat is reserved and struggled the most with the additions to the family. It took months and she still has her moments. One thing that helped her was being able to go down in the basement by herself. She'd always return in a happier mood.
Like Suki our oldest has also never cared much...
Ha! Yes, a third cat is definitely another option! When we just had two cats, the one became a real bully. The only reason there was peace is that the other cat allowed herself to be very submissive. Add a kitten into the mix and.... Wow! The difference was like night and day. But, it is a risk...
Wow! It sounds as if you've been quite proactive. You took the time of keeping them separated and provided them with lots of playtime and toys and even bought cat towers. For many cats, this would have been enough.
As you can see from my photo, I have three cats. Suki sounds a little like my...
Our oldest cat is dealing with this issue. Our veterinarian said it could be a food intolerance, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or other more serious issues. I would recommend getting your cat checked.
Is your cat throwing up food or bile? Is the blood red or black? These indicate different health...
