Is egg shell powder as a substitute safe in raw cat food recipes?
I've seen mention of using egg shell powder as a substitute during my research. One source said you can even make your own egg shell powder with ground egg shells. I would love to do that to reduce costs.
I am on disability...
The internet is obsessed with diy raw cat food,
but vets say it has health risks
and I've seen cats who are fed crappy wallmart brand food live to be healthy and old
so what's the deal?
My cat has really bad allergies. She has many food allergies which I've learned to manage so that's fine, but she also seems to be allergic to something in the environment and I'm not sure what it is, but I do know that her allergic reaction comes and goes, and it has happened in the winter and...
It is an infection! This time at the vet they found LOTS of bacteria on her skin near the red sores, so she's going on another round of antibiotics and prednisone and after 2 weeks a more expensive type of prednisone that doesn't cause cat diabetes, because apparently, this prednisone can, but...
Hmm very, interesting! The antibiotics stopped the patches from getting any worse, but she's still licking all the time, plus I see way more of those red dots, that I first thought looked like scabs. They do feel kind of like scabs, and are slightly raised. The red dots are also now in areas...
Ok... I'm so confused and don't know what to do.
I started noticing my cat licking and ripping her fur out, so there IS the possibility it might be stress related, also because we got a new cat back in December.
But there are more variables on the table that is making this situation seem very...
A few weeks ago my cat who has regular digestive issues started having skin issues so my vet put her on Royal Canin Hypoallergenic food.
So far in a couple weeks she has gotten healthier, plus she hasn't thrown up after eating at all which has been an ongoing issue for her for a few years, so...
Thanks, I am definitely going to try the sweater idea if the meds don't help stop her licking soon. We brought her to the vet a second time, and this time they did some skin scrapes again and used tape to recheck for mites, lice and other parasites, as well as bacterial infection and yeast...
Do they look like bites? I wouldn't know, it just looks like tiny scabs to me.
I'll try more omega 3's.
The coconut oil I massaged into her skin didn't make much of a difference so I don't think it's just dry skin, plus she's never had this issue before in her entire life. I think I will try...
Well I hope it's something not serious like that, because my vet said it could also be thyroid cancer, but she wanted to rule out everything else first.
My vet only looked for fleas for a minute or so and didn't find anything but gave us flea medication anyway to rule it out and it isn't...
Please help, I need to try everything, I do not want to lose my cat Sage and I don't want her to be uncomfortable!
This started 2 weeks ago, she had a tiny bald spot on her back and ever since it's been getting progressively worse, now it's all across her lower back, a little clump of fur...
Thank you for the links, it does sound like something my cats might have but the vet mentioned nothing about herpes and I specifically asked her how to treat it and she said it couldn't be treated, but that probiotics might help and she made me buy probiotics for him! I wish she would have told...
My senior cat has had this problem where she'll close one eye as if it's irritated, and it will gush clear water, a few times in the past before and it always clears up after an hour or so. I've examined her eye and it looks fine, I can't tell if there's any sign of redness in her eye because...
