    My kitten's HUGE!

Lol I just weighed him this morning and he's about 10 lbs at nearly 6 months! He's just a regular domestic cat, his mom was a petite 3 legged lady so I guess his dad must have been huge. He also always had big paws and a long tail so we knew he would be big, but the vet had estimated him to be...

    mild digestive trouble in kitten

My 5 month old doesn't seem to be uncomfortable, but over the past month or two I've noticed that he's been getting hair balls and he has really smelly poop. He also meows whenever he uses the litter box, it's not like a cry or in pain it just sounds like he's announcing what he's doing, so idk...

    Easy raw/homemade treats?

Right now I feed my kitten wet/dry combo. Wet food can be expensive (even the cheap cans) and we go thru it quickly. Sometimes I give him small pieces of meat or a tiny bit of ricotta or plain yogurt as a treat. I work at a health food store and I get a lot of free/discounted stuff because...

gas troubles in 10 month old kitten

Have you tried canned pumpkin? Goat milk is ok as a treat, not sure whether or not it would help the gas.

My cat isn't cleaning his bum.

Yea sounds like he needs to drop a little weight to reach back there. It's usually as simple as feeding him smaller portions and maybe choosing a lower carb food. If he stops grooming himself at all, that can be a sign that he's sick or depressed, but if it's just his butt, he probably is just...

Should I neuter my kitten now or wait?

I thought I remember reading somewhere that kittens can be fixed after 8 weeks and 2.5 lbs, and no later than 6 months... My cat is now 4 months and 6 lbs. our family vet insisted that we should wait until 6 months to neuter him... But this is also the vet that offers to declaw and neuter cats...

Help, my mom is set on declawing my cat

Yes, she said she won't do it, and I promised to manage his scratching. When I first posted this thread I was scared that she would make a decision behind my back but I know she won't do that now. :)

Help, my mom is set on declawing my cat

I didn't mean to start a debate though I suppose it is a controversial issue here. I don't blame my mom for wanting to declaw our cat, because it's what her family has always done, and what she's always done, and her vet is telling her that it's ok. She has also assumed so far that cats can't be...

Help, my mom is set on declawing my cat

He was born in mid-April, so 4 months I guess? I sent my mom the humane society article and she relented. I trimmed his front claws short and I'm gonna look for some furniture he can climb on and scratch. I really don't think he will be very destructive at all when he grows up.

Help, my mom is set on declawing my cat

Thanks everyone for your answers so far. He does let me trim his claws when he is relaxed, so I will try to do that more often and get them shorter. I might be able to get my stepdad on my side as well. I will consider the soft paws, I know petsmart sells them for pretty cheap... Hopefully...

Help, my mom is set on declawing my cat

I'm 20 and live at home. I'm primarily responsible for my kitten but my mom covers the vet bills. Whenever we had cats before, they were declawed and it never seemed to cause any problems but I still was uncomfortable with the idea. I told my mom before that I didn't want to declaw this cat, but...

    Boy or girl cat?

I always had female cats, but my kitten now is a male and probably the nicest cat I've ever had... But I don't think there's a real correlation in behavior and sex.

Need some advice abt feeding my kitten?

Thanks for the suggestions!! It's good to know there are some friskies varieties that don't have grain/corn, I'll have to check that out.all I remember about friskies from my last cat was my mom cracking open a can and the smell totally ruining my breakfast. :/ I'm also looking at pet valu's...

Need some advice abt feeding my kitten?

I have a 4 month old kitten who's maybe about 4.5 lbs. right now I feed him about 3 oz of wet food (1 small can divided into two meals) daily, sometimes a little more or less depending on what he eats. He also has 1/2 cup of kibble left out for him to eat, though he doesn't usually finish it...

Cat is dragging his poop outside the litter box?

I have a 4 month old semi longhair kitten. Very happy, very active, loves to eat. Every once in a while, his poop seems to stick to him and he drags on the floor outside his box. It's not diarrhea, it's fairly solid and normal sized. I'm gonna bring it up to the vet on Monday, but I'm wondering...
