    My Kitten is Pregnant!!!

I just want to clarify that I never said that the kittens "will" have problems, but that they may. After reading up more on the subject, I am wondering why my humane society is so quick to put down kittens born from close line breeding. hmmmm I am a Biologist....I think my education in...

    My Kitten is Pregnant!!!

If I were you, I would go to the local pet store and do some pricing...you may need a lot of things for these kittens that are not cheap! Then, call your vet and ask how much visits cost and how often your mother and your kittens need to visit. You also need to prepare yourself for sickness...

    Foster kitten

Although the fluids may be harsh on the poor little kitten, it could be beneficial. I have a foster group right now (about the same age) with the same exact conditions! The vet was at a loss for what was happening. I was in every morning to give each of them a round of warm fluids. They also...

    Here we go again!

I agree with CTCat, sounds like it may be crystals since it is a repeating problem. I have seen a couple cats have a lot of luck with the prescribed Science Diet food...make sure to ask your vet about an alternative diet, maybe its something he is eating or drinking that is causing problems...

A question for those in genetics...

I have heard that most all white cats are deaf...regardless of eye color. I had a foster group of 5 kittens that were all white and had blue and green mixed eyes. To my belief, all of them were deaf, although its not the easiest to tell when they are little. Next time I am at my vet (probably...

    Stinky situation

Do you have a vet in the area that could come to your house? It might be easier on everyone. I would have the vet run some tests on his urine...maybe something is wrong with the kidneys or bladder? Otherwise, simply neutering him should clear things up. I know what its like to have cats pee...

    Guess What???

Jeepers 7 kittens? That will be quite a handful at 6 weeks when they like to tear through everything! I'm glad to hear you have such a wonderful mom for them...tell her to keep up the good work!

When will they Pee without Stimulation?

I agree with the clumping litter...my vet told me that it she has seen cases where small kittens eat it and it clogs the intestines. That was enough information for me to stop using it! My kittens started using the litter box completely on there own in about 4 weeks! Good luck!

Circle scab on back of neck

I've had a few foster kittens with the same kind of thing. For one of them, it was ring worm (which can be transmitted to humans!). For another kitten, it was an allergy to plastic (he also had swollen and scabby lips). As for the other cats, the vet ran tests and nothing came up; a simple...

Looking for info - cat found w/ tatoo on belly

I think if it was a lab cat it would definetly have a microchip of some sort. I know that large colonies of lab rats are microchipped, so I would assume lab cats would be too. Also, there are extremely strict guidelines about laboratory animals. I would almost be certain that a lab cat would...

Let's exchange info on our cats' names!

We found our cat on the streets. Her name has changed over the years. Her name went from Alexis, to Lexy, to Lexington, and now its Rexington which seems more adult-like and sophisticated...afterall, she is wearing a tuxedo!

just need a little sympathy here

Thank you all for the support! Just to clarify...the kitten bit a vet tech on the finger in the back room (examining room). They told me it was state guidelines that they have to have a rabies test done even though the mom was vaccinated and they were never outside. If the kitten was to live...

just need a little sympathy here

Hello all....1st time posting on this site (by the way...I loved reading all the threads!) Anyways, I just had a bad experience, and need some sympathy from other devoted cat lovers. Here it goes: I am a foster parent for the local humane society and have fostered hundreds of cats and kittens...
