I think he could have what is called Feline Oral facial Pain Syndrome. My 18 year old kitty has it. She paws at her jaw after or during eating. First you need to rule out a possible obstruction in her mouth. Otherwise, I think that what is going on. She needs to go to a vet for diagnosis...
