    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Sorry to hear your kitty still has a slight limp still but stay strong, weaning off the medicine will take time and the kitty will have slight relapses but it is best for them to be completely weaned off. Best of luck!

If it’s worth your time, try contacting the vaccine manufacturer or have your vet call them. That’s how I was able to start a case # and get reimbursement. My vet wasn’t convinced it was the vaccine until after the call to the manufacturer (that I demanded they make). I hope vets become more...

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

I hear you, I went through that weaning period with mine and had to mentally prepare myself for the days I stopped the medicine knowing he would have a slight relapse. It’s so hard. Hopefully the other brand helps with the lingering inflammation. I really wish our pets didn’t have to suffer...

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Yeah, once I had my vet call the vaccine manufacturer (Zoetis in my case) they were then told by the Zoetis rep that it was indeed an adverse reaction from their vaccine and I started to get more help from them at that point once a case number was started. Clearly there isn’t any communication...

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Hi! Sorry that you and your pet are going through this. After weening my cat off his steroids, his limp and stiffness did return. I started using this natural remedy from Amazon: Homescape Pets Daily Thrive - Calms Aches & Pain, Anti-Inflammatory Pet Supplement Organic Hemp & Turmeric Oil for...

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Hard to say with the body twitches as this adverse reaction really messes with their muscles/joints from all of the inflammation. Nice to hear it’s subsided. I’m guessing you’ve checked his ears for mites? I know the head shakes and pawing can indicate mites. If it were my cat, I would wait on...

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Hello, this is a scary and lonely place to be in with our pets. We experience a ton of guilt for trusting these veterinarians to make the best judgement call for our fur babies. I have PTSD months later from the adverse reaction to the vaccine so I feel your pain and desperation for answers...

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Oh my, poor kitty! I hope the worst is behind him and he can start the slow road to recovery. You’re doing a great job and I’m sure he’s so grateful to have you looking after him.

I want to mention, a prednisolone dose twice daily for a few days might help vs once a day. There is a pill form that is more palatable than liquid form. Worth inquiring or trying out. Best of luck.

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

WBC could be slightly elevated from the inflammation caused by the vaccine? So hard when your poor kitty is tiny to begin with, ugh. My cat is the most rambunctious cat ever and not seeing him move for almost a month killed me. Again, my thoughts are with you!

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Also, Muskets symptoms of lethargy, loss of appetite and stiff back legs (which causes them not to want to move) are all signs of this severe reaction. I’m hoping it’s because he’s a kitten that the struggle is extra hard for him. Again, my cat Rico had a fever that came and went (typically...

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

hmmmm. A fever symptom seems typical when there is a “delayed” reaction which tends to kick in a week+ after the vaccines. He’s had these prolonged symptoms immediately since receiving them? All of this blood work is pretty normal? Did he ever receive x rays or ultrasounds? Did he get a...

I’m so sorry, my heart hurts for you. Did Musket ever have a fever?

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Hang in there! It’s definitely not a steady incline of good days but a rollercoaster of up and downs with more down days than good. Seeing your pet not act like their normal playful self is so hard and the amount of time it takes for even small improvements is several weeks. He will eventually...

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Yes, my cat had stiff/sore back legs, mostly the one that was injected with the vaccines. He would get a slight limp in that leg and it lasted for 4-6 weeks. Once he’s weened off the prednisolone, most likely will still have a little stiffness in his leg(s) so I have been giving my cat a...

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Trust your instincts and do your own research! I was so thankful for this thread when I went through it with my cat because the Vet had no clue and wasn’t educated on these “under reported or falsely reported” adverse reaction cases. Obviously they are way more common than we are told. My only...

    DELAYED, prolonged vaccine reaction

Hello, Did his blood work show an active infection? They tried to get my cat on the antibiotic doxycycline but since his blood work didn’t show any infection I opted to not add yet another medication that causes even more side effects. The reaction to the vaccine is not an infection but severe...
