Just picked up that laser pointer for Jack, my big playful boy. If he sees it in my hand he's already ready to play. It's great for giving him exercise and getting him to run around. He's usually attacking my girl Kali but the laser pointer has made her life easier too.
Just like human hands, cat's claws and paws have germs on them. You should wash the scratch right away and just watch it. More than likely, it's no big deal. The bump will probably go away.
An Update:
After a trip to the vet yesterday for a cold, we figured out the grumpy problem. Jack had developed an absess(sp?) from a puncture wound on his leg. Being so furry, I did not see the injury until I felt it. So the vet cut the hair away and I was pretty surprised! He should be fine...
Good news: Jack seems to be back to his normal self, chasing Kahlua, eating tons of food and jumping on his cat tree. Thanks for the advice and help. I was very nervous.
We've isolated the problem to his back left leg. When touching that side he gets growly and grumpier. That would explain his lack of playfulness. We'll get him checked out ASAP. Thanks for your help!
Thanks for your advice. I just called the local 24 hour pet hospital who said that as long as he is eating, drinking, and pooping, he may not need urgent care. But if anything changes she said to call them back. Knowing that this is a holiday weekend, we may go to the 24 hr place but they are...
Since yesterday, Jack just hasn't been himself. He's still affectionate and purrs. But has no energy. What is really making me worry is that he growls, hisses and bites when he is picked up. Normally, he may or may not let you hold him but never ever growled at his Mom and Dad. I'm definately...
From my very brief but very recent experience. Playing and fighting will be totally different. Fighting is accompanied by sounds of anxiety like how a rattlesnake rattles before striking. I just introduced Jack to my new kitty Kahlua. Boy, Jack growled and growled. They also would hiss when one...
This is a good forum. I'm getting another cat and am trying to find the best litter box for a multi-cat house(if two cats could be considered multicat ) I'm looking at the Omega Paw Large Self Cleaning Unit. Does anyone have experience with that one?
Just wanted to share my joy with you!
This weekend while at Petco, I was lamenting the prices of cat trees. I really wanted to buy one but the cost was out of my reach. Suddenly, my boyfriend says "I can build that" Thus the beginning of our weekend project. We finished yesterday evening to a...
When I got Jack I didnt' know much about him. There are in the upstairs of my landlord's house. Sometimes, he sneaks out to hang with them. He gets along great with the boy cat but the girl cat hates him. Since Jack gets so bored, we're getting him a buddy. I wonder since he took so well to the...
Hi everyone,
I'm Kat (no pun intended) and my little one is Jack. He's a great orange boy that I got as a giveaway from craigslist. I'm now looking for a buddy for him because he's so bored. Anywho, I'm glad this is a safe place to post questions. The DC Craigslist Pets board is crazy
I'm in a quandary about whether I should foster a cat or adopt another cat. I took Jack, my orange boy, in as a CL giveaway. I am so happy with him. But he gets lonely being the only one at home while I'm at work. Would it be a better idea to adopt him a lifelong friend or open my home to cats...
