Cheshire doesn't like dogs either (other than his brother Pavlov). But luckily we didn't come into contact with any dog in the store (we saw two dogs in the distance, he's fine with dogs that keep their distance).

Petco is a great place to socialize them! They have air conditioning so it won't be too hot inside. Maybe you could try going out in a carrier or cat backpack at first to gradually introduce them to the outside.

Oh wow, that's scary that they attack pets on leashes! 😱 I guess I am very lucky there aren't coyotes in my area. I am thinking it must be very stressful to walk a dog in areas where there are coyotes, or even just walking carrying a bag of groceries from the store.
