New Kitty & some mystery bathroom issues

Agreed about kittens and their bladders. It's just that it is a new issue. She has slept upstairs with me and Lola in the past with no bathroom problems. And when she waits to pee in front of me she really waits to make sure I am up and she pees where I was sleeping. I feel like she is trying to...

New Kitty & some mystery bathroom issues

Well, here is a doozy of an update - I just took Coco to the vet for urine testing to officially rule out anything medical and solely concentrate of behavioral issues like that darn littler box. The vet just called and told me that while my kitten had been previously spayed (by another...

New Kitty & some mystery bathroom issues

Thank you for your reply. Ideally I do realize that is the best method for moving a litter box however due to the floor plan of our house this is not realistic and another approach is our only option. And it depends on the cat. My now one year old had zero issues moving to the basement (friendly...

New Kitty & some mystery bathroom issues

Thank you for the replies and a quick update: It is Coco (kitten) who is the culprit. I just watched her pee on my bed as we all woke up this morning. She is litter box trained so I am thinking @Mamanyt1953 might be right about the smell still being on the bed from the fist time she peed out of...

New Kitty & some mystery bathroom issues

Hi, I am hoping this is an easy one but I need the help. Background - I have Lola, now a 1 year and 1 month old darling cat. Never any litter box issues, even when I moved the box to the basement from the upstairs or when she might feel stressed about something. She always stuck to using the...

Found stray kittens, not sure how old.

One trick I used in the past when my kitten arrived to me under weight - mix in a little baby food with the kitten wet food. Try a couple different flavors. I just put a spoon dab in there for flavor and she took to it. Soon she was eating just her normal kitty food. Did the vet offer more help...

    Introducing a new kitten

Thank you for the feedback. I have taken into consideration the financial burden. If another feline adds companionship to my kitty then I am willing to do it. I have seen other posts where owners claim their cats now hate them for allowing another kitten/cat into their home and that is my fear.

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

HI all, To put a final button on Lola's issue we discovered the problem. I took her to another vet and they ran a Diarrhea RealPCR Panel. She tested positive for Cryptosporidium. A type of parasite that would not show up in a regular stool sample screen. Most likely she picked it up as a...

    Introducing a new kitten

Hi! I have a 8 month old kitten who is lovely. I live alone and work full time although due to covid half of that time is working from home right now. Eventually I am sure I will return to the office full time. I have the opportunity to being home another kitty in December when my current...

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

QUICK UPDATE: Lola's most recent stool sample still came back negative for everything, ova, giardia, any parasites. She has about two bowel movements a day now and one can be semi formed but very soft with the second being mostly unformed and more watery. Food is simple with mostly wet food...

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

Yes, we are although it's been tough to get her to drink it. It seems the only liquids she trusts come out of her water fountain.

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

Thank you. When I saw the diarrhea this morning I started to wonder if it isn't only diet related again. I have a call into my vet now to go over some of these new possibilities. Other than the diarrhea she is perfectly normal. Eats as much as I will let her, runs around crazy, sleeps, drinks...

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

After a semi good day yesterday and a better evening, Lola woke up this morning with watery diarrhea. I am so frustrated that I can't sort this our for her. Yesterdays diet was boiled chicken with rice, some wet/dry food and her probiotic. Her last "movement" before bedtime was formed, semi soft...

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

Great - I will have to look into that too. I reviewed Lola's test results from the vet and they did test for giardia and it came back negative.

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

I just went through her last round of test results - they did test for giardia and it was negative. But I am hearing it may not show up in every stool sample? Also, I have heard good things about S.Boulardi - might be time to try that. Thank you.

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

Oh wow. That is interesting. I had asked about parasites not showing up in every stool sample (was told they absolutely do) but didn't think to ask about giardia. I hope it's not the case but I'd rather know about it. Thank you for this information.

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

Thanks so much for the reply and I am thinking simple diet is probably the best idea for her too. She wouldn't eat any dry food when I got her. She would refuse to eat so I bought a couple brands to see if she'd like one but the only way she will eat either of them is if I mix it with wet food...

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

Catsknowme - thank you for the suggestions. It is some I have not heard yet. Her litter is unscented - Dr. Elsey's. Her stool this morning was very soft but forming instead of watery which is an improvement from yesterday. I think the rice and pumpkin I gave her last night may be helping. I have...

    Kitten Diarrhea Help

I have a 4 1/2 month old kitten that I got about a month ago and her diet has been a struggle. I read blogs, talk to the vet, people at pet stores but I need some straight forward advice. My goal had been to put her on raw food. She came to me underweight and only eating wet food. I did a poor...

I need raw food help with kitten

daftcat75, Excellent points! I did not know this about fish. And I see the logic in keeping wet food around to incorporate especially since I will have to return to work with some longer hours on certain days and was planning on a timed feeder for those days. I appreciate the feedback. Thank you!
