try putting some food in the microwave, it gives it a stronger smell so they are more likely to eat it. also if you explain your situation to the vet im sure they will sort you out with a pay plan where maybe you could pay a little each week instead of paying it off in one go.

my cat does that when i stroke over his face (which he absolutely adores) and he also does it in the morning when im in bed, he nudges my head with his forehead and does the brrrrrr thing, i think its his way of saying 'good morning!!!'

what i do is work out how much food the cat should have in a day then split it into 2. i put the first half out in the morning and the second half out just before i go to bed, i add the second half to any leftovers from that morning but before i feed the breakfast the next morning i throw away...
