My cat somehow ripped a quarter-sized chunk of fur out of the back of her neck this weekend, and it won't heal up completely because she keeps licking at it - it scabs over then starts bleeding again. What can I use to keep the area clean and to get her to stop licking it?
The only wet food my cat will eat consistently are Inaba's Churu treats, which she usually eats in a mixed tuna flavor. Other than that she's on an all-dry diet of Dr Elsey's Cleanprotein in chicken because she's extremely picky - she has issues with flavor and texture, and has been through...
When I first got my cat, I was able to get her to eat a serving of Tiki Cat's salmon mousse every day, but she got sick of it after a few months and now refuses to touch it. I've had her try pretty much every pate/mousse/soup-textured food in Petco, but haven't been able to get her to start...
Yup, completely agree with you there - it's too bad they've added chickpeas to some flavors since the big draw to Cleanprotein is that it's almost entirely made of animal protein. I don't think cats want to eat chickpeas, lol. I've been buying off Chewy since I got my cat because their prices...
Apparently it should be fine for a few months past the best-by date, and she'll probably finish what was left in that bag in the next month or so. I also have some extra food in an air-tight glass jar from that bag that I've been keeping in a dark cupboard, which I think will be okay for her to...
It's likely a cost-saving measure - duck and rabbit are pricier than chicken, but they wanted to keep the costs reasonable so there's not a huge discrepancy in pricing overall. Customers might be deterred if the pricing was a lot higher than for the flavors they're used to buying, so they've...
I was just getting out the last bit of dry food from the bag (Dr Elsey's chicken Cleanprotein), and realized the best-by date was a month ago. I also have some Greenies Hairball Control treats (tuna flavor) that I just saw had a best-by date of 12/2020. I stocked up on both at the height of...
My cat's very temperamental and hates/is afraid of other cats, after a couple months of having been dumped outdoors by her previous owner and having gotten into numerous cat fights. A couple times a year we'll have strays coming up to our door, and she'll either scream at them or get really...
Update: It's been about 15 hours since this happened and she's been acting more normal throughout the day. About an hour or two after she was hit with the door, she ate a normal amount of food, drank, peed and pooped. She seemed kind of mad or avoidant last night, but today she's back to...
I was closing my closet door (which is made of heavy wood) when my cat ran right in front of it - she wasn't hit super hard, but it wasn't really a light blow either. What's worse is that she immediately ran into the other room and started vomiting up some spit, then some food she'd eaten...
@FeebysOwner Yes, we got her a covered cat house/bed that we put in the tub, so she does have a nice hiding place. That's why I'm surprised she's choosing the sink over that - it's uncovered and she knows she's out in the open there. According to his mom, Petunia was hiding in the cat house this...
Wanted to update with a photo - here she is hanging out in the sink, not even two days after being home? His mom went in to check on her this morning and found her lounging casually in the sink - this is a pretty good sign, yes? I expected her to be sweet based on how my boyfriend's described...
@fionasmom She seems to be settling in already! His mom went in to clean her litterbox today and she'd already peed - it's amazing she felt comfortable enough to use her box after less than a day of being there. She's also already talking to my boyfriend's mom - she didn't want to be touched but...
Thank you everyone for taking the time to send these links! So he picked her up from VCA a couple hours ago and transported her to his mom's - they're planning on putting her in the bathroom until she acclimates, and his mom has a spare room she can put her in after that. According to the VCA...
I posted previously about a cat my boyfriend's been taking care of at his workplace - we've been spending the week boarding her after trapping her on Monday, and FINALLY have a plan for her. Unfortunately we weren't able to get outside help, but my boyfriend's mom stepped up in a huge way and...
Thanks everyone for your replies - we started talking to people in the local rescue community but haven't found any solid leads yet. We'll try Nextdoor too - hopefully something comes of that. I was emailing rescues yesterday and my boyfriend was able to talk to one of them, but so far most...
My boyfriend works at a place that adopted a cat solely for pest control purposes. His employers got her around 4-5 years ago when was a kitten, then basically turned her loose outside. She's never really been socialized so she's very skittish, but hasn't lived anywhere but this one small...
What are some ways to deter her from doing this? She literally only does it for attention. I wouldn't mind her just walking around as I work, but Smo starts getting aggressive if I try to ignore her - she'll start biting my hands as I type or hit me with her claws out.
How do I make her leave...
@Furballsmom I'm going to try placing unscented deterrents like SSScat first, then blocking off the balcony corners with decorations so he doesn't have space to jump up. If he keeps coming by then I'll pull out the furniture polish. Hopefully he gets the message quickly.
Mine does this too. Not so much "help," but roll around furiously on the clean sheet. Then when I tuck in the corners she'll run over and start punching my hands...sigh. Why, Smo???
