Hi:wave3:, I am a minimalist with a kitty having turfs of paw hair. We only use toilet paper in kitty box. I know it is never mentioned, but believe me we have no residual anywhere in our house. His paws are cleaned as he naturally scratches the box bcz the soft paper absorbs all poop and urine...
Okay, this thread is closing. The suggestions of building a more secure outdoor spaces is worth taking. It will keep the cats safe, help avoid their boredom, smells will diminish with the fresh air, and other things I have not thought of. Thanks Soo much, everyone.
Thanks for sharing that others have their reservation about cats in the house, too. We agreed to get pros to gate the space which needs:running: securing as cats do climb and jump even, 12 ft. Walls.

Yes, no hissing. Our 3yo was looking for a buddie. When the stay came with kitten in tow. Our resident shared food with them both. The kitten ate its fill, while mum stray only ate outside the porch. We have learned the kitten was hit by a car. Leaving mum stray alone. Now, the area has been...
Hi, I am happily owned by a pedigree silver-red mainecoon since 3 yrs. I don't often see Maine reds that resemble him.
1. My question is have your Maine coons or any owners you know experience an oily secretion from a gland sac on the tail proximal to the caudal vertebrae ?
Gen. Vets. I have...

I noticed resident is easy & tolerant of stray. They nose knock. Resident looks for stray whe it is gone. Stray most likely has some scents on it . Stray is caution on some days, like today.
Will the two be buddies when one desperately wants its own place?
Hubby agreed to let resident sleep in extra bathroom during the nights. Little tabby surprised us both this morning she had taken up the empty space, our resident once used at night. So each cat was rotated to a new sleeping place. One in the house bathroom at night. One on the front porch at night.
1. Is it typical for strays to never stay put? It turns out the front porch works well with resident on a leash for scenic time

Will have to observe Red Tom's activity. He shows up randomly, is lean and loud. I will proceed with great caution and get some help in the trap plan. So far I have seen him stalking the new born kittens at the ferels community. I heard a neighbor crying there ,as one of the kittens was found dead.
A long sob story
1. There is a stray tabby female who has warmed up to hubby and I. Getting fed, exploring our porch. Making moves to walk under our feet to enter our house. Our resident and stray nose knock, play respectfully ,& share food. Hubby has expressed: no longer wanting any cats in...
She now trust me and Returns regularly to eat and sit in our patio enclosure. She has marked me, she plays with my resident cats tail. Now, Red Tom is near, crying for food, neighbors throw piles of bread in the street. She is too quick trap. May try to trap Red Tom.
The idea of leaving an unwanted cat may be revolting. Yes.
But, it happens a lot. The kitten as a present for Christmas, birthday, other occasions has become a problem. It is a hassle to remove it, or work with it to improve whatever it is that has spoiled your day!? So, ppl do not use...
I live in a country that regards the cat as special in a different way than USA. I have been watching my special cat who is 3yo. He might just prefer his castle be his domain only.:itslove: The visitor cat will have to convince resident cat, it can be good in its home. I am just the...
